Driftwood Hoodie

When I took these pics, it was very windy, so excuse the blown away look ;). That weather inspired me to make a hoodie tho. I owned 1, so I needed 1 more. This is The Driftwood Hoodie by Striped Swallow Designs . I thought it was cute, feminine and a lot of room to be creative, so I went for it. I used a cabled sweater knit and a floral french terry. I chose the low neckline option and obviously the front pocket and the thumbcuffs. All in size 2 xxl. (sizing runs from xs to xxxl) I also choose the relaxed fit bodice, you can also grab a slim fit add-on.

I think it came out very cute! It’s snuggly and comfy and the tumbhole cuffs are ideal for walking the dog and not freezing off your hand while holding the leash :D. The big pocket is approved by the dog to hold his treats :p. And I’m allowed to put some tissues in there too for my always runny nose.

It’s not the quickest sew out there, but all your work does get you something very pretty! It might also have taken me a while cause I kept diddy daddling and staring at tv. Never watch a sad movie while sewing. Blubbering gets you nowhere :D.

Het waaide vreselijk toen ik deze foto’s nam, dus excuseer de weggeblazen look ;). Dat weer inspireerde me echter om een hoodie te maken, ik had er maar eentje, dus nog 1 mocht wel. Dit is De Driftwood Hoodie door Striped Swallow Designs . Ik vond hem schattig, vrouwelijk en met veel ruimte voor creativiteit, dus ik ging ervoor. Ik gebruikte stretchy, gekabelde sweaterstof en een gebloemde french terry. Ik koos de laagste neklijn optie en uiteraard de grote zak vooraan en een boord met gaten voor je duim. Allemaal in maat xxl. (Maten lopen van xs tot xxxl)Ik koos ook de iets lossere versie, er is ook een bonus add on met een iets aansluitendere versie.

Ik vind hem echt leuk geworden! Hij is heel comfy en de duimgaten zijn ideaal voor met de hond te wandelen zonder je handen eraf te vriezen terwijl je de leiband vasthoudt. De grote zak is ook goedgekeurd door de hond om z’n snoepjes in te steken en ik mag er ook een paar zakdoekjes insteken voor mijn altijd lopende neus :p.

Het is niet het snelste project ooit, maar al je werk, levert wel iets heel mooi op! Het heeft me misschien ook wat tijd gekost omdat ik maar naar tv bleef kijken. Kijk nooit naar een droevige film terwijl je naait, Je geraakt nergens met gesnotter :D.

The Hideaway

We were taking pictures for that version of The Hideaway by Striped Swallow Designs and my dog, Captain Jack, his patience ran out, so I took him with my in front of the camera and he enjoyed that way more, so I wanted to feature my little attention seeker too today haha.

Anyways, The Hideaway ! It’s a cute, playful sweater that features an off the shoulder look.  There’s 2 views, 1 with a more slim fit at the waist and a more relaxed fit at the chest and arms, and the version I made with a more relaxed fit at the waist but less fabric in the dolman bit. Sizing runs from XXS to 3XL (I did the 2xl) and their are 3 sleeve lengths, you can also choose yourself which shoulder you have exposed. I prefer the left, I don’t even know why LOL.

The floral one is french terry (I think) , the Burning buildings (?) one is a rayon spandex and the pink one is a total mystery knit. As you can see in rayon it’s a lot more slouchy, keep that in mind when choosing fabric, the stretchier, the more your shoulder will be exposed. Btw how awkward is that burning buildings fabric. I saw it in the store, about 2 yards left, in sale and I caught myself staring at it, so I ended up buying it. I’m still not really sure what’s actually on there, there’s trees, buildings and fires, but not sure what’s on fire and even more unsure why. Altho I guess one shouldn’t seek a meaning in a fabricprint lol.

That last one gave me some trouble. I just didn’t have enough fabric but I HAD to use this. In my head this would be perfect! So I cheated and didn’t cut the back on the fold. It’s barely visible there is a seam there now and heck my hair covers it completely anyway. I wore it all day yesterday and it’s def. my favourite out of the 3. To make the long sleeve you put a cuff on it and I cut that the other way around, the fabric had enough stretch both ways and I did it just cause I could! It was intended I swear! :p Maybe I should call this one The Boo Boo Shirt I love :D.

We waren foto’s aan het maken van die versie van De Hideaway door Striped Swallow Designs en onze hond, Captain Jack, verloor z’n geduld, dus heb ik hem er maar bij genomen voor de camera en dat vond hij een heel eind leuker, dus ik dacht dan mag de aandacht zoeker ook nog is mee op de blog haha.

In ieder geval, The Hideaway ! Het is een leuke, speelse sweater met een “van de schouder” look. Er zijn 2 versies, 1 die iets smaller is onderaan maar vollere “dolman” mouwen heeft…vleermuis mouwen geloof ik in het nederlands? En dan 1, die ik maakte, die losser is op de taille, maar minder stof gebruikt in het vleermuis stuk. Maten lopen van XXS tot 3XL (ik maakte 2XL) en er zijn 3 mouw lengtes, je kan ook zelf kiezen welke schouder je bloot wil. Ik prefereer links, geen idee waarom LOL.

Die met de bloemen is french terry (denk ik) , de brandende gebouwen (?) is viscose tricot en de roze is een mystery tricot. Zoals je kan zien, in de viscose versie zie je veel meer schouder, hoe meer de stof rekt, hoe meer van je schouder te zien is. Hou dat in je achterhoofd wanneer je stof kiest. Trouwens hoe vreemd is die stof met die gebouwen? Ik zag het in de winkel, een kleine 2 meter zat er nog op de rol en in de uitverkoophoek en ik betrapte mezelf erop dat ik maar bleef staren naar die stof. Dus ik heb hem maar gekocht. Ik weet nog altijd niet wat daar nu exact aan de knikker is. Er staan gebouwen op, bomen en vuur, maar wat nu effectief in brand staat en waarom? Nu ja men hoort misschien ook helemaal geen waarom te zoeken in een print lol.

De laatste was een beetje een missie. Ik had simpelweg niet genoeg stof, maar ik MOEST dit gebruiken. In mijn hoofd ging deze geweldig leuk zijn. Dus ik heb vals gespeeld en het achterpand niet op de stofvouw geknipt. Je ziet amper dat er een naad is achteraan en ach mijn haar hangt er toch over. Ik heb het gisteren de hele dag gedragen en het is mijn favoriet uit de 3. Om de lange mouwen te maken zet je een brede boord aan de mouwen en ik heb dat andersom geknipt, de stof had genoeg stretch naar beide kanten en ik dacht: ‘ik doe dit, gewoon omdat het kan”! ECHT WAAR het was geen fout hoor! Ik had dat in mijn hoofd! :p Misschien moet ik dit maar mijn Oeps Sweater Waar Ik Gek Op Ben noemen :D.

The Boheme Sky

So fall is knocking at the door here in Belgium and since my fall wardrobe is non-existent I need to get sewing. I started of with The Boheme Sky by Striped Swallow Designs . I choose this cause I like the handkerchief hem a lot. I made an XXL, no alterations and the fit is lovely. Sizing runs from XS to XXXL. The floral one is SBP, which gives such a nice drape. The dress version is a mysteryknit you should not buy, so so horrid to sew with and even wearing a pursestrap around your shoulder damages the fabric, which sucks cause I really really like it! I’ll have to handle it with a lot of care!

The pattern is beginner friendly, nothing too difficult and the bodice is lined, which I always prefer.  The tunic (and midi) length has a bit of a different hem to the dress version. I love how it’s playful on the tunic, yet rather discrete on the dress length. You can choose from different sleeve lengths, so it can also be a summer item next summer. I had a lot of fun making this and I’ll have a lot of fun wearing it over the next few months 😀

Herfst staat aan de deur te kloppen en mijn herfstgarderobe is onbestaande, dus tijd om te naaien! Ik begon met de Boheme Sky door Striped Swallow Designs . Ik koos dit omdat ikd e zoom erg leuk vind. I maakte een XXL, geen aanpassingen en de pasvorm is prima. Maten lopen van XS to XXXL. De gebloemde versie is enkelg eborsteld polyester en dat valt zo mooi. De jurk is een “mystery”tricot, die je absoluut niet moet kopen, zo’n drama om mee te naaien en zelfs de schouderband van je handtas beschadigd de stof al, erg erg jammer, want ik vind em wel zo leuk! Ik zal er heel voorzichtig mee moeten zijn!

Het is een prima beginnerspatroontje, niks te moeilijk en het lijfje is gevoerd, wat ik altijd een plus vind.  De tuniek versie (en midi ook) heeft een iets andere zoom dan de jurk lengte. De tuniek versie is eerder speels, terwijl de jurk lengte net iets discreter is. Je hebt keuze tussen verschillende mouwlengtes, dus het kan volgende zomer ook nog een zomeritem zijn. Ik vond het leuk naaien en ik hoop dat het ook leuk dragen wordt de komende maanden 😀

The Sundown Tank

I’ve been running for a few weeks now, I figure I got to be able to run 5 miles to outrun zombies if they rise up to eat us. One never knows!! Anyways, I don’t like sleeves for running, so I’m always on the look out for cute fun tank tops I can use to run. The newly released Sundown Tank by Striped Swallow Designs ticks all the boxes. It’s cute, a tad different and it’s a great top for running, but also for any other occasion really.

It comes in 3 views, a closed back, a high twisted back and a low twisted back. I made the first 2. It comes in sizes XXS- XXXL. I made a straight up 2Xl. I love the knotted back and I think the front gives it a completly diffrent look from any other tank top out there, and hey you get to show off your cute bralettes and/or sportsbra’s. 😀

 

It’s a rather easy sew, you just got to keep your head in the game when doing the twists haha. I made them in both rayon/lycra and cotton/lycra. it def. sits a bit prettier in CL, but I love how flowy it gets in rayon. I’ve made 4 in total and i have worn em all by now haha. I love special hems and special backs, so this is ideal. It has a curved hem, which I prefer by far to a straight hem. I hate how straight hems seem to cut you in half optically.

It doesn’t take a lot of fabric so it’s ideal for the “too short for a dress or a sleeved shirt” stack. 😀  The first pic is even made from a panel :). (My personal favourite!). I’ll def. make a few more in athletic knit for running, I’ll run till sundown I’m sure! 😀

Sinds een paar weken ben ik aan het lopen, een mens moet immers toch een km of 5 kunnen lopen om zombies te ontwijken als het zo ver is en ze er staan om ons op te eten. Je weet maar nooit!! In ieder geval, ik loop liever in een top zonder mouwen, dus ik ben altijd op zoek naar leuke, schattige tank tops. Het nieuwe patroon, de Sundown tank door Striped Swallow Designs scoort op alle punten.Het is mooi, een beetje anders en ideaal om te lopen of voor wat dan ook eigenlijk.

Er zijn 3 versies, een gesloten rug, een hoog geknoopte rug en een laag geknoopte rug. Ik maakte de eerste 2. Het patroon loopt van XXS to XXXL. Ik maakte een 2XL, zonder aanpassingen. De geknoopte rug is uniek en de voorkant is ook iets anders dan andere tank tops en het is een reden om een leuke sportbeha of bralette aan te doen 😀

 

Het is zeker een beginnerspatroontje, je moet gewoon goed opletten wanneer je de rug torst haha. Ik heb er gemaakt in katoen tricot en viscose tricot, het staat net iets mooier in katoen, maar in viscose is het dan weer wat luchtiger en vloeiender. Ik heb er 4 gemaakt en ‘k heb ze al allemaal gedragen haha.Speciale ruggen en speciale zomen zijn echt mijn ding, dus dit is ideaal. Het heeft een gebogen zoom en dat prefereer ik boven een rechte die toch al gauw de indruk wekt dat hij je in 2 hakt.

Je hebt niet zoveel stof nodig, dus ‘t is ideaal voor die stoffen in je voorraad die zo net te kort zijn voor een t-shirt met mouwen of voor een jurk. 😀  De tank op de foto hier vlak boven heeft als voorkant een paneeltje. (Mijn persoonlijke favoriet!). Ik ga er zeker nog maken in een sportstofje om in te gaan lopen en dan loop ik tot zonsondergang! 😀

Women’s Journey Romper

I was so so excited to test the Women’s journey Romper by Striped Swallow Designs. I wanted one for a while now, but I was scared it would make me look like an easter egg with a ribbon on, which is not the look one goes for! Being able to test was the push I needed to be brave and go for a romper.

I made a 3XL, I lucked out and hit all the measurements in the chart for 3XL , so no grading this time!  I did add an inch to the hem of the shorts for the blue floral one and 2 inches for the panda version. The one with the panda print is a cotton lycra with lots of recovery, the two others are single brushed poly.  I think they all turned out great! It’s an easy sew, which you put on at the end to fit and not take off cause it’s so comfy!

It features 4 different views. 2 have the wrap in the back, 2 have the wrap in the front. Both feature a view with some skin showing between the shorts and the bodice and a more modest view. I made View A en D, the modest ones, cause my belly area is not something I wanna show off :D.

 

 

If you have ever worn a romper or a jumpsuit , you know they have 1 big annoying thing against them, you need to strip them all down if you need to use the restroom. Which can be really awkward out in public places, since you def. don’t want your clothes on the floor in a public restroom (Only god knows what happened on that floor right! and I bet he doesn’t want to know!), you end up in some sort of slapstick moment where you are sitting there almost naked, desperately clinging to the clothes around you ankles while making sure they don’t touch the floor and they don’t touch the bowl! The struggle is real!

HOWEVER if you chose the back wrap option with this romper you can go to the restroom without untieing and undressing ! You just pull the shorts down! How awesome is that!!!!

Ik was zo enthousiast dat ik de Women’s journey Romper door Striped Swallow Designs mocht testen. Ik wilde al even een romper maken maar ik had zo’n schrik dat ik er zou uitzien als een paasei met een strik rond en dat is nu meestal niet de look waar je voor gaat! Testen was het zetje dat ik nodig had om moedig te zijn en te proberen.

Ik maakte een 3XL, ik tikte alle vakjes af in de 3XL matentabel, dus geen aanpassingen deze keer!  Ik maakte de short van de blauwe met bloemen wel een 2.5 cm langer en de pandaversie 5 cm. Degene met de pandaprint is een katoen tricot met veel recovery (hier hebben we het in een eerdere blogpost over gehad! :D) , de 2 andere zijn enkel geborstelde polyester.  Ik vind ze allemaal leuk! Het is een makkelijk patroon dat je aan het eind aan trekt om te passen en dan niet meer uit doet omdat het zo comfy is!

Er zijn 4 verschillende versies. 2 hebben de overslag achteraan, 2 hebben de overslag vooraan. Beide hebben een versie met wat ruimte tussen de short en de overslag en een versie waar je geen inkijk hebt ter hoogte van je buik . Ik maakte versie A en D, die zonder inkijk, want daar zit ik niet op te wachten ter hoogte van mijn buik.

 

 

Als je ooit een romper of jumpsuit hebt gedragen weet je dat er 1 heel vervelend nadeel aan is. Dat ding moet helemaal uit als je naar de wc gaat, wat echt vreemd kan zijn op publieke plaatsen. Je wil daar immers echt niet dat je kledij op de grond hangt (god weet wat op die vloer gebeurd is en die wil het vast niet eens weten!). Dus je enige optie is om op de wc te gaan zitten, terwijl je je kledij vasthoudt en in de gaten houdt dat ze de grond niet raken en al zeker niet da bv. linten in de pot vallen! The struggle is real!

MAAR in dit geval, als je de overslag achteraan neemt, dan kan je gewoon naar de wc zonder dat je de bovenkant moet losmaken! Hoe geweldig is dat!!!!
