The Amsterdam Coat

Here I am for probably the last time this year with my latest sew. I wanted a winter coat that isn’t too long so it doesn’t get too dirty walking next to my dirt loving labrador in the woods. since I already made 2 coats designed by Rebecca Page and love those, the choice was easy and I chose The Amsterdam Coat . This makes me the proud owner of all coats designed by Rebecca! Woop! I had this fabric in my stash for I think about 3 years? I bought it at a sale for like 2.5 dollars a yard! Making this the cheapest coat I ever owned! I could not make all the plaid match since there were some flaws in the fabric, but I don’t really care. At least now you see the princess seams and I have a coat for like 10 dollars (my lining is a cotton that was on sale too ha!)

The pattern is fun and not too difficult, I think i had this done in about 10 hours. Sizing runs from xxs to 5xl. I made a 3xl and can comfortably wear a sweater underneath. I planned on doing more options, bu this fabric is so thick it all becomes bulky soon and I didn’t want to overdo it. My buttons are vintage ones out of my stash. This coat would also be fun in a colorful cotton in spring! The instructions are awesome and I didn’t struggle anywhere.  I really love this one, I even got matching lipstick! lol

Hier ben ik voor waarschijnlijk de laatste keer dit jaar met mijn laatste maaksel. Ik wilde een niet te lange jas om met mijn labrador, die erg van vuiligheid houdt, te gaan wandelen in het bos. Ik hoop dat iets korter dan betekend dat hij minder rap vuil wordt. Ik maakte al 2 jassen ontworpen door  Rebecca Page en die zijn geweldig, dus de keuze was makkelijk en ik ging voor  De Amsterdam Jas . Dit maakt me de trotse eigenaar van alle jassen ontworpen door Rebecca! Woop! Ik had deze stof al zo’n 3 jaar? in mijn “stash”. Ik kocht het in sale voor 2 euro de meter! Wat dit de goedkoopste jas maakt, die ik ooit heb gehad! Ik kon niet alle ruiten mooi laten uitkomen omdat er hier en daar fouten zaten in de stof, maar ‘t maakt mij eigenlijk niet uit. Nu zie je ten minste de prinsessen naden en ik heb een jas voor zo’n 12 euro (mijn voering had ik in sale ha!).

Het patroon is leuk en niet al te moeilijk, ik denk dat ik er zo’n 10 uur mee bezig ben geweest. De maten lopen van xxs tot 5xl, ik maakte 3xl en ik kan er comfortabel een sweater onder dragen. Ik was van plan om meer opties te doen, maar de stof is zo dik, dat het al gauw te dik werd en ik wilde niet overdrijven.  Mijn knopen zijn vintage uit mijn verzameling. Deze jas zou ook nog leuk zijn in een katoentje voor de lente! De instructies zijn geweldig en ik had nergens last mee. Ik vind hem erg leuk, ik heb zelfs matchende lippenstift! Lol

The Sundance Skirt

For the longest time I wanted a skirt exactly like this. Button up in the front and playful. When Petite Stitchery & Co asked for testers for The Sundance Skirt, I was all over it! I got assigned to make the mini and I was like MINI??? , but when I started making it I saw it’s not too short at all! Sizing runs from XS to 3X, I made a 1X. I love how it flares out cutely and I also love how cute it is at the back :D. It’s a quick, easy sew.

I decided to make it in jeans, with the leftovers from my Kingston Jacket . Ofcourse I could not control myself and I had to have the silver side showing. I think it turned out really fun and cute! And it pairs great with my new boots. I dug out a sweater I made last year, before I learned to grade patterns etc. and I got to say I’ve come a long way LOL. I don’t think i like that sweater at all now. (there might have been too much junk food between the making of that sweater and this point in time too,  but I’ll swear in court it’s the lack of grading! different subject!)

I’d say this pattern is beginner friendly, if you are up for learning how to do button holes, or you could use snaps instead! (but learn the buttonholes! You can do it! ) There’s also a longer midi version. I kinde really wanne make that in suede! No suede in my stash tho! See I do still need fabric! Ha! 😀

Al een hele tijd wilde ik een rok, exact als deze. Knopen vooraan en speels. Wanneer Petite Stitchery & Co op zoek ging naar testers voor de Sundance Rok greep ik uiteraard mijn kans. Ik kreeg de mini lengte toegewezen en ik had iets van erm MINI???, maar wanneer ik eraan begon zag ik dat het helemaal niet zo kort is! Maten lopen van XS tot 3X. Ik maakte 1X. Het rokje loopt leuk wat wijder uit en is erg leuk achteraan ook! Het is een makkelijk, snel klaar projectje.

Ik koos ervoor om hem in jeans te maken, met de overschot van mijn  Kingston Jas . Uiteraard kon ik mezelf niet inhouden en ik moest ook hier en daar de zilveren kant gebruiken. Ik vind het erg leuk en geslaagd en het past perfect bij mijn nieuwe laarsjes!  Ik haalde een Aster boven voor op de foto, gemaakt voor ik patronen degelijk leerde graderen en ik moet zeggen, ik heb een hele weg afgelegd sindsdien lol. Ik denk niet dat ik deze nu nog leuk vind. (er zit misschien ook teveel junkfood tussen het punt waarop ik hem maakte en nu, maar ik zweer, het is het graderen ok! Ander onderwerp!)

Ik zou zeggen dat dit patroon beginner vriendelijk is, als je het aandurft om knoopsgaten te maken of je gebruikt kamsnaps natuurlijk! (maar zet je over je knopen angst en leer het! Je kan het! 🙂 ) Er is ook nog een langere, midi versie. Ik zou die eigenlijk graag in suede maken, maar dat bezit ik niet in mijn “stash”! Zoals je ziet, altijd stof nodig!! Ha! 😀

Hubert and The Boxer

It’s the season where you have to figure out what to sew for the men in your life. If you are not in the habit of doing this, start now! It’s amazing how much more fabric you can bring in your stash if your hubbie thinks it’s for him ;). I’ve sewn 2 patterns by Wardrobe By Me.  The Boxer is a newly released pattern, The Hubert Hoodie recently got rereleased.

The Boxer is a loose fitting boxershort, best made out of woven (one could try knit and size down tho). It comes in sizes 2XS to 4XL. The fly is non functional. My model wears a medium here. It’s a fun quick sew and makes a great gift imo! You can use fun novelty fabrics, personalise with decorative stitching, etc. And hey everybody needs boxers so you can’t really go wrong with this gift!

The Hubert Hoodie comes in sizes 2XS -3XL. It has a ton of options, hood, kangeroopocket, sleeveless, Ribbed cuffs and hem, hemmed erm hem lol, etc. You could make a bunch and not 2 would really look the same.  I made this one out of a sweaterknit, size M. I love the dropped shoulderline and Hubbie likes the fit! So he’ll be getting more of these 😀

Now get sewing for the men in your life too! I bet they deserve it! 🙂

Het is het seizoen waarin je moet uitvissen wat je gaat naaien voor de mannen in je leven. Als je nog niet de gewoonte hebt om dit te doen, begin er dan nu mee! Het is wonderbaarlijk hoeveel stof je nog in je voorraad kan bijzwieren als je man denkt dat het voor hem is ;). Ik naaide 2 patronen van Wardrobe By Me.  The Boxer is een nieuw patroon, The Hubert Hoodie werd recent heruitgebracht.

The Boxer is een losse boxershort, het beste gemaakt in een geweven stof (je kan tricot proberen en een maatje zakken). Het komt in de maten 2XS-4XL. De gulp is decoratief. Die op foto zijn maat M. Het is een snel klaar projectje en het is een super tof kadootje! Je kan leuke gekke stoffen gebruiken of personaliseren met een siersteek, etc. En hey iedereen heeft boxers nodig, dus erg fout kan je er niet mee gaan!

The Hubert Hoodie komt in de maten 2XS -3XL. Het heeft een hele hoop opties: kap, kangeroe zak, mouwloos, afgewerkt met boordstof of gewoon gezoomd, etc. . Je kan er een hele hoop maken en geen 2 hoeven er hetzelfde uit te zien. Ik maakte deze uit alpenfleece, maat M. Ik vind die verlaagde schouders tof (of dit op iets slaat in het nederlands geen idee! haha) en mijn man vindt hem goed zitten ook! Hij krijgt er dus nog een paar :D.

En nu begin ook te naaien voor de mannen in je leven! Ik denk dat ze het vast verdienen! 😀

Nora Sweater

I totally still missed a good simple sweater pattern, most are hoodies and one doesn’t always want to wear a hoodie right. The Diby.Club has the solution now, The Nora! The fit on this one is absolutely amazing! It’s cute, comfy and it comes in sizes 00 to plus 36. A huge size range in other words! I made a size plus 18 bust graded to a plus 20 waist. I have honestly worn mine every day since I made em! (Please don’t tell poor Adrianne, I’m wearing here now tho, cause she needs some love too! Don’t tell nora that! Dude, this gets confusing!!!)

The seam in the back actually gives the back a bit of shape, the sweater is a fun loose fit around the waist. Us testers called it the bubble haha :D. You have 3 necklines to choose from, I chose the scoop neck, there’s also a crew neck and funnel neck. (that word always reminds me of funnel cake…mmm cake…:D)  3 sleeve lengths and a banded hem or split hem or also amongst the options. I choose long sleeves and bands, I’m gonne need to make a funnel neck with a split hem too! Oh I almost forgot about the elbow patches! That’s an option too! As always instructions are as good as the fit with the DIBY.Club,  I’d say a confident beginner could tackle this one easy enough!

Ik miste nog een leuk simpel sweater patroon, geen hoodie, want je draagt ook niet altijd een hoodie toch. De Diby.Club heeft nu de oplossing, De Nora! De pasvorm bij deze is absoluut geweldig. Het is leuk, comfy en het matenbereik is heel groot, van maat 00 tot plus 36. Ik maakte een plus 18 buste gegradeerd naar een plus 20 taille. Ik heb ze echt waar al elke dag aangehad sinds ik ze heb gemaakt! (Niet tegen arme Adrianne zeggen hoor. Ik heb nu wel een Adrianne aan, want die verdient ook liefde! Zeg dat niet tegen Nora! Man man, dit wordt verwarrend!!!)

De naad in het achterpand geeft de achterkant wat vorm, de sweater heeft een leuke losse pasvorm rond de taille. Wij testers noemden het de Bubbel haha :D. Je kan kiezen uit 3 neklijnen, ik koos voor de scoop nek, er is ook nog crew en een funnel nek. 3 mouwlengtes en een zoom met splits of afgewerkt met een band. Ik koos voor de versie met de band en de lange mouwen, ik ga nog eentje moeten maken met split en een funnel nek. Oh en ik vergat het bijna , er zijn ook nog leuke elleboog “patches”. (man mijn vertaalknop naar het nederlands in mijn hoofd doet het niet :D) Neem ook is een kijkje in de tester gallerij, iedereen maakte zo’n leuke versies! Zoals altijd zijn de instructies bij de Diby.club net zo goed als de pasvorm. Een beginner moet die kunnen lijkt me 🙂

Portia Party Dress

Still looking for a party dress for the holidays? Look no further, Rebecca Page released The Portia Party Dress. I tested this one out for you guys and I love mine! It comes in knit and woven (lined and unlined), maxi and knee-length, midi and above the knee-length. you can do an open back or half closed back. As you can see many options here! The knit, kneelength version is even free!

It’s available from XXS to 5XL. I made a 2xl bust graded to 3XL waist, maxi, woven (something crepe with tiny amount of stretch, unsure what it exactly was :D) fully lined with the open back, I thought that was fun with a nice tank under it, need to find something lacey! Due to short legs I had to remove an inch of the length. I omitted the zipper, cause I can get in fine with the open back. I realised to late I could have made it reversible, but I used the same fabric, but hey if I spill something I can go flip it in the bathroom and nobody is the wiser! Fit is spot on as usual, instructions are great as usual.

It also comes in girls and dolls versions, so you can be cute together with your little one :). The knit knee-length is free, the others are now on sale!

Nog altijd op zoek naar een jurk voor de feestdagen? Kijk niet verder, Rebecca Page bracht De Portia Party Dress uit. Ik testte deze voor jullie en ik vind het resultaat geweldig! Er is een versie voor stretch stoffen en geweven (gevoerd en niet gevoerd) stoffen, maxi, midi, knie-lengte en net boven de knie-lengte. Je kan kiezen voor een open rug of half gesloten. Zoals je kan zien, heel wat opties! De versie voor stretchstoffen en met de knie-lengte is zelfs gratis!

Het is beschikbaar in XXS tot 5XL. Ik maakte een 2XL buste gegradeerd naar een 3xl taille, maxi, gevoerd voor geweven stoffen. Wat de stof juist is weet ik niet zo goed meer, iets crepe-achtigs met een klein beetje stretch.  Ik deed de open rug, omdat ik dat nog wel leuk vond met een tank eronder, ik zou liefst iets leuk in kant vinden voor eronder. Doordat ik last heb van korte benen, heb ik 2.5 cm van de lengte afgedaan. Ik liet de rits weg, want door de open rug kan ik er prima in en uit, ik besefte dan te laat dat ik hem omkeerbaar had kunnen maken, maar ik heb met dezelfde stof gevoerd. Maar hey als ik straks mors, kan ik hem gewoon ff omdraaien in de wc en niemand weet van iets ;).De pasvorm is perfect zoals gewoonlijk bij Rebecca.

Er is ook een meisjes en poppen versie, dus je kan samen schattig zijn met je dochtertje. De versie voor de stretchstoffen in knie-lengte is gratis. De rest is nu in sale!

Sansa Pants

Bella Sunshine Designs  had the Sansa pants for girls and many women asked for a ladies version. So Melissa locked herself up in her drawing-room and went to work for you guys. And I obviously tested them out! 😀 It comes in sizes 0 to 30, a high-rise and medium rise and 2 waistbands. it’s  quick sew, it takes less time to make em then to wash em. I made a size 20 with a size 18 waistband. As usual instructions on how to grade etc; are included.

I made this one in c/l with pinstripes and a Maggie with unicorns to match! I love how they are high-waisted cause well you apples out there know, high-rise is life! And as a 90’s teenager I’m all for flaring all things! Add some flair with some flare ;)! And how cute would a mummy and me be with these pants? Family pictures anyone?? 😀

Bella Sunshine Designs  had de Sansa broek voor meisjes en veel dames vroegen naar een damesversie. Dus Melissa sloot zichzelf op in haar tekenkamer en ging aan de slag voor jullie. Uiteraard testte ik ze! 😀 Matenbereik loopt van 0 tot 30, er zijn 2 taillehoogtes en 2 taillebanden. Ze zit zo in elkaar, het kost minder tijd om een paar te maken dan een paar te wassen. Ik maakte maat 20 met een 18 tailleband. Zoals altijd zitten er instructies bij hoe te graderen etc.

Ik maakte deze in tricot met strepen en een Maggie met eenhoorns erbij als top :D. Ik ben blij dat ze hoog in de taille komen , voor appels is dat toch wel zo aangenaam! Hoef je niet heel de tijd broek te hijsen ;). En als een tiener uit de jaren 90 ben ik helemaal voor wijde pijpen! Hoe schattig zou trouwens een mommy en me zijn met deze broek? Familie foto’s!! 😀
