Anything But Basic Tee

It’s been a while since I blogged about a freebie. Today I’m here with one! The Anything But Basic Tee by DIBY . It’s a very beginner friendly basic tee. It’s done in a jiffy. It has a slightly relaxed fit, which I like, most shirts I owned up till now are tight fitted, so it’s a welcome addition.

There’s 3 necklines and 4 sleeve lengths to choose from. I went for the long sleeves and the scoop neck. I used a lightweight cotton jersey. I made a plus 18 bust, plus 20 waist and hips. Sizing runs from 00 to 36, so it’s very inclusive! And did I mention…free!

I’ll be using this pattern often for sure. It’s such a nice staple for your wardrobe. If you did not try DIBY before, this is also the ideal time to test their patterns with it being free. That’s usually a good way to get to know a designer through his or her free patterns. I’ll often try a freebie first before buying.

Het is al even geleden dat ik nog is een blog had over een freebie. Vandaag ben ik er weer met eentje!  The Anything But Basic Tee van DIBY . Het is een heel beginnersvriendelijk basis shirt patroon. Het is zo af. Het heeft een beetje een lossere pasvorm, wat ik ook wel is leuk vind, want tot hiertoe had ik alleen maar nauw aansluitende shirts.

Er zijn 3 neklijnen en 4 mouwlengtes om uit te kiezen. Ik koos de lange mouwen en de scoop nek. Ik gebruikte een dunne katoen tricot. Ik heb een plus18 buste, plus20 taille en heupen aan. De maten lopen van 00 tot 36, dus een groot matenbereik! En zei ik al dat het gratis is?!

Ik ga dit patroon zeker meer gebruiken. Het is echt een tof basis patroontje. Als je nog nooit iets hebt gemaakt van DIBY is dit ook de ideale moment om hun patronen is uit te proberen zonder 1 te moeten betalen. Dat is vaak de beste manier om een nieuwe ontwerper te leren kennen. Ik maak vaak hun gratis patronen eerst , voor ik wat koop.

The Malala

The Malala by Diby is here and it’s love!  I fell in love the moment I saw this was going into testing! A sweater (dress) with some swing and a cool collar! What’s not to love! Fit is great and sizing runs from misses00 tot plus36, get in! I made a plus 18 graded to a 20 waist. I made the dress length, there’s more hem options , from shirt to dress, banded, not banded,…

I made mine out of a butter soft french terry.  I choose the cuffed sleeve, there’s again more options. The instructions are great! The construction of the collar is a bit of a challenge, but an experienced beginner can surely tackle it!  Plus you get so so many fitting advice at Diby, it’s a bit of a sewing lesson and a pattern in one at Diby. 🙂

I seriously love this collar, it comes high up your neck, so perfect for those days with cold, chilly winds. I’m very proud I managed to find like the perfect buttons rt!? Having a weird random button stash ftw! 😀

De Malala van Diby is hier en ik ben er gek op! Het was liefde op het eerste gezicht wanneer ik zag dat deze in testing ging! Een sweater (jurk)met swing en een coole kraag! Wat kan daar nu niet geweldig aan zijn. De pasvorm is super  en het matenbereik loopt van dames00 tot plus36, woop! Ik maakte een plus 18buste en plus20 taille. Ik koos de jurklengte, er zijn nog meer opties van shirtlengte tot jurk, met band,zonder band, …

Ik maakte mijne uit een super zachte French Terry. Ik koos de mouwen met polsbanden, er zijn alweer nog meer opties. De instructies zijn geweldig! De constructie van de kraag is een beetje een uitdaging , maar een beginner met wat ervaring moet dit wel lukken! Je krijgt bovendien zoveel informatie rond pasvorm en aanpassingen bij DIBY, het is een beetje een gratis naailes er bovenop daar. 🙂

Ik hou zoveel van deze kraag, hij komt hoog en is dus ideaal voor koude winderige dagen, zoals nu eigenlijk feitelijk. Ik ben serieus trots op mijn knopenvondst. Hoe goed passen die erbij! Een rare compleet willekeurige knopenverzameling is zo slecht nog niet 😀

Mae Poncho Sweater

Never in my life did I own a poncho, so I gave it a go with the Mae Poncho Sweater from Diby.  This pattern is beyond versatile. So so many options! You can do the open sides, like I did. Or go more for a sweater look with closed sides. A hood or no hood like me, different sleevelengths and a cowl. I also made the belt myself.

I chose a very slinky 2way stretch knit. I have no idea what it is or where I even got it haha. I like how the belt still gives you a waist. It’s a quick fun sew, not too difficult. I made a plus 18, I didn’t grade out for my hips, since there’s plenty of room. Sizing runs from misses 00 tot plus 36, so very inclusive as always at Diby. I love them for this! We all get to play :D.

You’d think by the way that after the longest summer in my life my legs wouldn’t look like they are in casts, I think I can safely assume by now that it’s their permanent state. The struggle is real!

Nog nooit bezat ik een poncho, dus ik probeerde het is met de Mae Poncho Sweater van Diby.  Dit patroon is super veelzijdig. Er zijn zo zo zoveel opties. Je kan de open zijkanten doen, zoals ik. Of je gaat meer voor een sweater look met de gesloten zijkanten. Een kap of geen kap , zoals ik, verschillende mouwlengtes en een kraag, ik maakte ook de riem zelf.

Ik koos een heel flubberige 2way stretch stof. Ik heb geen flauw idee wat het is en nog minder van waar ik het heb haha. De riem geeft je toch nog een taille en dat vind ik wel tof! Het is een niet al te moeilijk, leuk snel klaar projectje. Ik maakte maat plus 18, ze lopen van dames00 tot plus36, dus heel inclusief zoals altijd bij diby. Ik hou echt van hen hierom! We mogen allemaal meespelen :D.

Je zou trouwens denken dat na de langste zomer in mijn leven, mijn benen er niet meer uitzagen alsof ze in gips zitten. Ik denk dat ik veilig kan stellen dat dat hun permanente status is. The struggle is real!

Rosa Tulip Top & Dress

I’m a big fan of DIBY so I tested the Rosa Tulip Dress and Top . I so messed this project up lol. I wanted a knee-length dress. I just was going to have enough fabric. I cut and turns out I didn’t mirror the front skirt piece. No fabric left to cut another one, so I could only cut it down to top length. I’m so gutted, I like the top, but I wanted a dress boehoe.

Sizing runs from misses 00 to plus 36 at DIBY, I made a plus 18 bust, plus 20 waist. It’s very comfy cause it just has an elastic in the waist en the tie is really cute. I made elbow length sleeves (there’s many sleeve options) so I can wear it in fall, cause I felt it’s a fall fabric with the deer. There’s also a knee-length (sigh) and a maxi-length skirt.

I look horrid in these pics, but that day was like 40°C. I was really suffering! The things I do for you guys! Haha. I’m wearing my Walker shorts with it, also by DIBY. It’ll be cute on full length pants too I think. It’s not a difficult sew and the instructions are very extensive, a beginner should be fine I think. Oh and I used cotton jersey.

Ik ben een grote fan van DIBY dus ik testte De Rosa Tulip Jurk en Top . Ik ben er in geslaagd zo te knoeien met dit project. Ik wilde een knie lengte, ik had net genoeg stof. Ik knip en dan zie ik dorie, de rok vooraan niet gespiegeld! Geen stof meer om een nieuw deel te knippen, dus de enige oplossing was om het te verkorten naar top lengte. Ik vind de top leuk, maar boehoe ik wilde echt een jurk.

Maten bij DIBY lopen van dames 00 tot plus 36. Ik maakte een plus 18 buste, plus 20 taille. Het is mega comfortabel, want er zit alleen een elastiek in de taille. het lint is een leuk detail. Ik maakte elleboog lengte mouwen (er zijn nog veel meer mouw opties) zodat ik het kan dragen in de herfst. Ik vond het een herfstig stofje met de hertjes. Er is ook een knie lengte (zucht) en maxi lengte rok.

Ik zie er vreselijk uit op mijn foto’s maar die dag was het 40°! Ik zag echt af! De dingen die ik doe voor jullie! Haha. Ik heb ook mijn Walker short aan, ook van DIBY. De top is ook tof op een lange broek denk ik. Het is niet moeilijk om te maken, de instructies zijn super uitgebreid, dus een beginner kan dit. Oh en ik gebruikte katoen tricot.

The Althea Tank

The DIBY.CLUB is working so hard behind the scenes! The latest testing I’ve done for them is this Althea Tank. I know I blogged about a lot of tanks by now, but this is again very different. This racerback tank has a relaxed fit, yet it’s not swingy and a lot of fun options. From a banded hem (which I did) to a cross over back, a hood, a kangaroo pocket. All you could want from 1 pattern and more!

Sizing is extensive from misses 00 to plus 36. I made a plus 18 bust, 20 waist. I love the relaxed fit and it’s so nice to wear. I used a drapey cotton jersey for my version. Instructions are very clear and extensive. Really getting a DIBY pattern is like buying a sewing and fitting book! This is absolutely beginner friendly!

The back has a seam, this is to eliminate any funny business with sway back issues. I know some of you prefer to not have a seam in the back, but trust me in most cases it’s absolutely worth it! The shorts I’m wearing are The Walker Shorts by DIBY, So I’m all DIBY woop woop 😀

De DIBY.CLUB is heel hard aan het werk achter de schermen! Het laatste dat ik voor hen testte, is deze  Althea Tank. Ik weet dat ik al over heel wat tank tops heb geblogd de laatste tijd, maar deze is weer helemaal anders. Deze racer back heeft een vrij losse pasvorm, maar niet swingy en er zijn hopen opties. Van een zoom met een band (welke ik maakte), tot een gekruiste rug, een kap, een kangeroe zak, kortom alles wat je kan willen van 1 patroon en meer!

Het matenbereik is groot, met maten van dames 00 tot plus 36. Ik maakte een plus 18 buste, plus 20 taille. Ik vind de losse pasvorm top, zo comfortabel om te dragen. De instructies zijn heel duidelijk en uitgebreid. Een DIBY patroon kopen is een beetje een naai en pas boek ineens erbij krijgen! Dit is absoluut beginner vriendelijk!

The rug heeft een naad, dat is om ervoor te zorgen dat het mooier valt achteraan. Ik weet dat sommige onder jullie daar vaak een probleem mee hebben, maar geloof me in de meeste gevallen is het het gewoon echt het waard! De short die ik aan heb is De Walker Shorts van DIBY, dus ik ben helemaal DIBY vandaag woop woop 😀

The Sojourner Dress

I’m normally a tad scared of a woven dress, they require a lot of fitting usually, which puts me off. I decided to test the Sojourner by DIBY.Club and I have not regretted it. This is such an easy pattern even tho it’s woven. I’d say it’s beginner friendly even! I love the loose and flowy shape of it. It features a nice shaped hem, I did the straight one, which is still high low, just less prominent. You can do a more dramatic high low too.

Sizing runs from misses 00 to plus 36, I made a plus 18 bust, plus 20 waist. I chose peachskin and I’m so happy with how it drapes. It’s also so so so thin, ideal for hotter than hot days! Make sure tho you don’t pic a fabric that is see through, unless you fancy that kind of thing, who am I to judge. 😀

I chose not to do the pockets, I know weird rt. I just couldn’t handle doing them with the peachskin, although it’s so worth it in the end, peachskin is a pain to sew with. Hemming was a bit of a fight too, until I realised I knew how to sort that out, I just stitched parallel to the edge around the skirt and used that stitching to fold the hem. Worked like a charm! I even did the sleeves like that. I’ll never ever even attempt to hem a fabric like this again without this little trick.

Ik ben normaal altijd een beetje bang van een jurk in een geweven stof, je bent vaak lang bezig met ze mooi op maat te krijgen en dan heb ik al geen zin meer op voorhand. Toch besloot ik om de Sojourner van DIBY.Club  te testen en ik heb daar geen spijt van gehad! Dit is zo’n makkelijk patroon al is het gewoven. Ik zou zelfs stellen dat het beginner vriendelijk is! De jurk is erg luchtig en valt prachtig. Het heeft een mooi gevormde zoom, Ik koos de rechte voorkant, wat nog altijd een hoog/laag zoom is maar minder prominent dan de echte hoog/laag optie, die er ook bij zit.

Maten lopen van Dames 00 tot plus 36, ik maakte een plus 18 buste, plus 20 taille. Ik koos peachskin als stof en dat valt zo mooi. Het is ook superdun dus heerlijk voor deze heter dan heet dagen. Let erop dat je stof niet doorkijkt, tenzij je dat net wil, wie ben ik om te oordelen :D.

Ik koos ervoor om de zakken niet te doen, ik weet het vreemd he. Ik kon het gewoon niet opbrengen om die te doen met de peachskin. Het is zo’n leuke stof om te dragen, maar niet echt om mee te werken. Zomen was ook best een missie, duurde even alvorens ik doorhad dat ik weet hoe we dat netjes doen! Je stikt gewoon parallel met de rand een stiksel en strijkt om op dat stiksel, werkte perfect. Ik heb zo zelfs de mouwen gedaan. Ik zoom nooit nog stoffen als deze zonder dat trucje.

The Helen Dress

I bought the fabric on the picture above, specifically for a maxi dress. I had a dress in my head at the time. Skip a month forward and The Diby.Club posts a tester call for The Helen dress, the exact dress in my head! So that was me testing! I love testing for them, cause they have such a huge size range, that I’m always happy there’s more patterns of them out there! Sizing runs from 00 to plus 36, I made a plus 18 bust graded to a 20 waist.

I made both dresses with the racerback back, you can use the dolman bodice tho, for 1 I used the solid front, for the other one the Cross Over front. You have all these fronts with the dolman bodice too. The skirt has different length options, split options and an option for pockets. The drawstring makes it casual. In my head it’s the perfect dress for a crazy hot day, a beach may or may not be involved. Diby.club patterns always include an extensive guide on how to alter for fit. From a FBA till grading it’s all explained very well in the tutorial!

The pink one is cotton jersey, the other a complete mystery knit. I didn’t make any alterations except the grade. I love to wear racerback bra’s so I’m a huge fan of racerback dresses and tops. I’m sure I’ll get to wear this loads with summer being so early this year here in Belgium. I chose the split option for both, cause I like the look so much.

Ik kocht de stof, op de foto hieronder, specifiek voor een maxi jurk uit te maken. Ik had een heel gedetailleerd beeld van hoe die moest zijn. Spring even een maand verder en  De Diby.Club post een oproep voor testers voor De Helen Dress, de exacte jurk in mijn hoofd! Ik deed dus graag weer mee :D! Ik test met veel plezier voor hen omdat ze zo’n groot maatbereik  hebben.(van maat 00 tot plus 36, ik maakte een plus18 buste gegradeerd naar een plus20 taille)

I maakte beide jurken met een racer back achterkant, je kan ook voor een dolman lijfje kiezen.  Voor de roze gebruikte ik de volle voorkant, voor de zwart/witte de gekruiste voorkant. Je hebt beide voorkanten ook met de dolman. De rok heeft verschillende lengte opties, split opties en een optie voor zakken. Het touwtje in de taille maakt het casual.  In mijn hoofd is het de perfecte jurk voor een hete dag, een strand is optioneel een goed idee! De patronen van de Diby.club hebben altijd een uitgebreid stuk over hoe aan te passen voor de perfecte pasvorm. Van volle buste aanpassing tot maten graderen, alles wordt uitgelegd!

De roze is katoen tricot, de andere….geen flauw idee!? :D. Ik maakte geen aanpassingen, behalve het gaderen. Ik hou ervan om raceback beha’s te dragen, dus ik ben helemaal fan van racerback jurken en tops. Ik ben er zeker van dat ik dit veel ga dragen met dat de zomer hier zo vroeg is gearriveerd. Ik koos de split opties voor beide, want dat vind ik een heel toffe look.

Gabriela Pj Suit

I’m such a sucker for jumpsuits and onesies and all sorts. I however barely wear em cause I HATE HATE HATE having to strip down in the ladies room. The DIBY.Club announced to it’s testers a bit ago that they were looking for testers for a onesie with a dropseat, https://doitbetteryourself.club/product/the-gabriela-pajama-suit-adult-onesie-foot-pajamas/?ref=7. And that was like a dream come true! A comfy suit for around the house, with footsies if you want, pockets and a hood and a dropseat? YES please! And today it released!

I get so many questions about my dressing, so I decided to take a few shots in there;). So here you go, indulge in your curiosity haha. Now back to the matter at hand, The Gabriela. It has a huge size range, from sizes 00 to plus 36. I made a plus 18 bust, graded to a plus 20 waist. I had to do 0 alterations otherwise. There’s different sleevelengths, the bottom can go from shorts to footed pj’s, you have every option you could possibly want in this pattern. The instructions are beyond elaborate!

There was no way to take pics outdoors, since well it was below freezing here and I discovered taking indoor pics is a whole new challenge with a labrador around the house. Especially with one who has no concept of personal space. Picture time is apparently goofball time lol.

I have been wearing this suit, which doesn’t make me look like a blob (woot), all the time. It’s so comfy and so fun! I need to make a billion more! Think about this, at first glance you might think, do I need this? But heck yes you do! It’ll be the best gift you gave yourself in quite a while!

Ik ben gek op jumpsuits en onesies in all vormen en maten. Ik draag ze echter amper, want ik heb een serieuse hekel aan half naakt op het toilet te zitten. De DIBY.Club liet z’n testers een tijd terug weten dat ze testers zochten voor een onesie met een “dropseat”,  De Gabriela. (ik heb geen idee hoe dit te vertalen? kontflap? lol) Dat was als een droom die uitkwam! Een comfortabele onesie voor in huis, met voeten (lol!) als je wil, zakken en een kap en een dropseat? JA graag! En vandaag komt die uit!

Ik krijg zoveel vragen over mijn dressing, dus allez vooruit een foto in mijn dressing, voedt jullie nieuwsgierigheid is een keer! haha 😀 Nu terug naar waar we het over hadden, de Gabriela. Het patroon heeft een enorm matenbereik van 00 tot plus 36. Ik maakte een plus 18 buste, plus 20 taille en heupen. Ik had verder niks veranderingen te doen. Er zijn verschillende mouw lengtes, verschillende pijp lengtes van short tot pyjama met voeten.  Echt elke optie die je maar kan willen zit erin. De instructies zijn niet gewoon uitgebreid, die zijn als een naailes!

Met dat weer de laatste tijd was er echt geen optie om buiten foto’s te nemen en ik heb ontdekt dat binnen foto’s nemen z’n eigen problemen heeft met een labrador in huis. Zeker wanneer dat eentje is met een totaal gebrek aan kennis van persoonlijke ruimte. Foto tijd is blijkbaar doe is gek tijd lol.

Ik heb deze onesie echt heel erg vaak aan, het laat me er niet uitzien als een grote ronde blob! Het is zo comfy en leuk! Ik heb er echt nog veel meer nodig! Als je zo ff snel leest, denk je misschien dat je dit niet echt nodig hebt. Maar echt waar je hebt dit nodig in je leven! Het is vast het beste kado dat je jezelf hebt gegeven in een lange tijd!

Nora Sweater

I totally still missed a good simple sweater pattern, most are hoodies and one doesn’t always want to wear a hoodie right. The Diby.Club has the solution now, The Nora! The fit on this one is absolutely amazing! It’s cute, comfy and it comes in sizes 00 to plus 36. A huge size range in other words! I made a size plus 18 bust graded to a plus 20 waist. I have honestly worn mine every day since I made em! (Please don’t tell poor Adrianne, I’m wearing here now tho, cause she needs some love too! Don’t tell nora that! Dude, this gets confusing!!!)

The seam in the back actually gives the back a bit of shape, the sweater is a fun loose fit around the waist. Us testers called it the bubble haha :D. You have 3 necklines to choose from, I chose the scoop neck, there’s also a crew neck and funnel neck. (that word always reminds me of funnel cake…mmm cake…:D)  3 sleeve lengths and a banded hem or split hem or also amongst the options. I choose long sleeves and bands, I’m gonne need to make a funnel neck with a split hem too! Oh I almost forgot about the elbow patches! That’s an option too! As always instructions are as good as the fit with the DIBY.Club,  I’d say a confident beginner could tackle this one easy enough!

Ik miste nog een leuk simpel sweater patroon, geen hoodie, want je draagt ook niet altijd een hoodie toch. De Diby.Club heeft nu de oplossing, De Nora! De pasvorm bij deze is absoluut geweldig. Het is leuk, comfy en het matenbereik is heel groot, van maat 00 tot plus 36. Ik maakte een plus 18 buste gegradeerd naar een plus 20 taille. Ik heb ze echt waar al elke dag aangehad sinds ik ze heb gemaakt! (Niet tegen arme Adrianne zeggen hoor. Ik heb nu wel een Adrianne aan, want die verdient ook liefde! Zeg dat niet tegen Nora! Man man, dit wordt verwarrend!!!)

De naad in het achterpand geeft de achterkant wat vorm, de sweater heeft een leuke losse pasvorm rond de taille. Wij testers noemden het de Bubbel haha :D. Je kan kiezen uit 3 neklijnen, ik koos voor de scoop nek, er is ook nog crew en een funnel nek. 3 mouwlengtes en een zoom met splits of afgewerkt met een band. Ik koos voor de versie met de band en de lange mouwen, ik ga nog eentje moeten maken met split en een funnel nek. Oh en ik vergat het bijna , er zijn ook nog leuke elleboog “patches”. (man mijn vertaalknop naar het nederlands in mijn hoofd doet het niet :D) Neem ook is een kijkje in de tester gallerij, iedereen maakte zo’n leuke versies! Zoals altijd zijn de instructies bij de Diby.club net zo goed als de pasvorm. Een beginner moet die kunnen lijkt me 🙂

The Adrianne

This is such a fun one! DIBY.club released their Adrianne, a very fun slouchy sweater with open sides. Last year in the dutch sewing groups there was a hype , the Aster. We all made it and all had quite a few fitting problems. The Adrianne imo is what Aster should have been! A quick, easy sew and a comfy sweater in return that actually fits! The size range is as usual with DIBY huge. ranging from size 00 to plus 36. For reference, I made a plus 18, graded to a 20 waist.

Fit is spot on and the manual includes loads of information on sizing and alterations ppl  commonly have to make. Imo when you buy a pattern of DIBY, you don’t just buy a pattern, you buy a sewing class! I’d say this one is definitely beginner friendly.

The open sides are very cute, you can add a button to it too, so it doesn’t fall open when you bend. There are 3 neck options, a cowl neck, scoop neck (which i did) and boat neck. You can also choose from 4 different sleeve lengths. I made mine in a french terry with a 90’s print! I completely adore it! 😀

Deze is zo leuk! DIBY.club bracht de Adrianne uit, een keitoffe flubberige sweater met open zijkanten. Vorige jaar hadden we de Aster hype, maar laten we eerlijk zijn, heel wat mensen hadden daar problemen mee qua pasvorm. The Adrianne is wat de Aster had moeten zijn naar mijn mening. Het is een snel klaar projectje en je krijgt een comfy sweater in de plaats, die dan nog is past! Het matenbereik is zoals altijd bij de DIBY groot, gaande van 00 tot plus 36. ter referentie, ik maakte een plus 18 gegradeerd naar een plus 20 taille.

De pasvorm is perfect en de instructies bevatten hopen info over de juiste maat kiezen en aanpassingen die mensen regelmatig maken. Als je een patroon van de DIBY.club koopt, krijg je er eigenlijk een beetje een naaicursus bij vind ik. Deze is trouwens beginner vriendelijk.

De open zijkanten zijn een leuk detail, je kan er eventueel een knoop aanzetten als je niet wil dat het openvalt als je bukt. Er zijn 3 nek opties, een watervalhals, een gewone hals en een “boat” hals. (geen flauw idee wat dat in het nederlands is haha) Je kan ook kiezen uit 4 mouw lengtes. Ik maakte mijne in french Terry met een jaren 90 print! Ik ben er stapelgek op!
