It’s been a while since I tested a dress, cause frankly I have too many, but I couldn’t pass The Mariella Dress by Rebecca Page . I was intrigued by the knot, I tried a knotted top when I was just sewing and it got my head spinning haha. So I felt it was time to get over the knotfear. This pattern is designed for knits, I used a lightweight cotton jersey.
It comes in sizes xxs to 5xl. I made a 2xl. I chose the shortest sleeve length, There’s 2 to choose from. I made the longest skirt, there’s more options up till a topversion. This is the short frill, you can do a longer one or an asymmetrical one too. It’s a very quick sew once you get your head around the knot part. I’d suggest to not overthink it and make sure you have room to lay out your pieces when pinning so you see what you are doing.
The coolest thing about this dress, there is no hemming involved whatsoever! whoop whoop! Almost feels like cheating haha. I think I might chop a bit off the length, but I want to wear it with boots first, see how I feel about the length then. I plan on making a topversion next, I think that’ll be cute on jeans!

Het is al een tijdje geleden dat ik nog is een jurk testte, want nou ja ik heb er niet bepaald nodig, maar ik kon De Mariella Dress van Rebecca Page niet overslaan. Ik was best gefascineerd door de knoop vooraan. Ik heb ooit zoiets geprobeerd wanneer ik net begon en dat deed toen best pijn aan mijn brein haha. Dusse hoogtijd om over de knoop angst te geraken. Dit patroon is ontworpen voor stretchstoffen, ik gebruikte een lichte katoen tricot.
De maten lopen van xxs tot 5xl. Ik koos de kortste mouwlengte. Er zijn er 2 om uit te kiezen. Ik maakte de langste rok, er zijn nog opties tot een topversie toe. Dit is de korste “frill”, er is nog een langere en je kan ze ook asymmetrisch combineren. Het is snel klaar eens je door hebt hoe die knoop werkt. Ik zou aanraden om het niet te overdenken en om te zien dat je ruimte hebt om je top uit te leggen zodat je goed ziet wat je aan het spelden bent.
Het leukste aan deze jurk, je hoeft nergens te zomen! Whoop Whoop! Het lijkt wel vals spelen haha. Ik denk dat ik nog wat van de lengte af ga halen, maar ‘k wil het eerst is dragen met laarzen en dan zie ik dan wel wat ik ervan denk. Ik ga nog zeker een topversie maken, lijkt me leuk op een jeans!
