I’m very excited to be part of the Turning the page: Sewing for the Changing Season Blog Tour! For me the pattern that pops to mine is The Taylor Trench Coat. I myself already have 2, so I decided to make one for my mom! She gave birth to me, the least I can do is make her a coat rt!?

If you want more info on this pattern, you can find my blog about it here: Blog Taylor Trench . I wear a 3xl, my mom is an m. So it was a very funny experience, everything seemed so small haha. I guess in reality my stuff is just big, but it’s a glass half full, half empty situation :D. She choose twill for the outer and cotton poplin for the lining. I can tell you fit is spot on for 3xl and spot on for m! 🙂

The coat looks so good on her, I bet she’ll wear it loads! I will always really love this pattern, it’s such a long sew but so worth it and every woman should have a trench in her closet for fall. Make it and feel empowered and ready to tackle fall!

   Ik ben zo blij dat ik deel mag uit maken van de Turning the page: Sewing for the Changing Season Blog Tour! Het patroon dat direct in mijn hoofd sprong is  De Taylor Trench Coat. Ik heb er zelf al 2, dus ik besliste er eentje te maken voor mijn moedertje! Ze heeft me op de wereld gezet, het minste dat ik kan doen is voor haar een jas maken toch!?

   
   Als je meer info wil over dit patroon, hier vindt je mijn voorgaande blog over de trench: Blog Taylor Trench . Ik draag een 3xl, mijn moedertje is een m. Het was best een grappige ervaring, alles leek zo klein tijden het naaien. Hmm in feite is alles van mij natuurlijk gewoon groot, maar ‘t is een glas halfvol, halfleeg ding denk ik :D. Ze koos keperkatoen voor de buitenkant en katoen poplin voor de voering. Ik kan melden zowal 3xl als m vallen prima als je de matentabel volgt! 🙂

   
   Ze staat supergoed met de jas, ik ben er zeker van dat ze hem veel kan dragen! Ik zal altijd veel van dit patroon houden, het is een lang project, maar het is het zo waard en elke vrouw zou een trench in haar kast moeten hebben voor de herfst. Maak er ook 1 en voel jezelf empowered en klaar om de herfst in te gaan!

Taylor Tee

My sew for the hubster sewing spree continues! Today I’m showing off his Taylor Tee by Pickletoes Patterns. I feel there’s a lot of T-Shirt patterns out there for men, but they all are basically the same. It gets so boring! So I chose this pattern because it has a fun color blocking option. You can get creative and make a truly unique shirt.

Sizing runs from xs to 5xl, I made a size m for him. There’s a lot of options, hoodie, crew neck, different sleeve lengths, bands or no bands, thumb hole cuffs, solid, color blocked, etc. So you can get really creative with this one. I was also thinking, you could cut the entire front mirrored and have the stripes go the other way!

I chose cotton jersey and I stitched over all seams with my coverstitch. I really love this shirt and he does too! Fit is great, instructions are clear. I’d think a beginner can tackle this np! 🙂 So what are you waiting for? Get sewing for the guys in your life! 🙂

Mijn naai voor je man marathon gaat nog even verder :). Vandaag kom ik pochen met zijn Taylor Tee van Pickletoes Patterns. Er zijn hopen T-Shirt patronen te vinden voor mannen, helaas allemaal heel gelijkaardig en dat wordt snel erg saai! Dus ik koos deze omdat het een toffe colorblocking optie heeft. Je kan dus helemaal creabea doen en een echt uniek shirt maken.

Maten lopen van xs tot 5xl, ik maakte een m voor hem. Er zijn super veel opties, hoodie, ronde hals, verschillende mouwlengtes, banden of niet, duimgaten, effen, color blocked, etc. . Je kan dus echt alle kanten uit. Ik dacht ook al dat je alle delen van het voorpand gespiegeld zou kunnen uitknippen en dan lopen de lijnen de andere kant uit!

Ik koos voor katoen tricot en ik stikte de naden door met de cover. Ik hou echt van dit shirt en mijn man ook! de pasvorm is super, instructies zijn duidelijk. Ik denk dat een beginner dit best kan! 🙂 Dus waar wacht je nog op? Achter die machine en naaien voor de mannen in je leven! 🙂

Men’s Chino Pants

So here is a story all about how I messed this up :D. I tested the new Men’s Chino Pants by Wardrobe By Me. Hubbie has been asking me for forever for pants. So I was very happy a new pants pattern was going to be released. I made a 29, sizing runs from 27 to 36. I used denim. So far so good rt!

I put on tv, started bingeing Scandal and sewing these up. A few hours later I was all done and all proud. They looked great. I did a victory dance, binged some more Scandal and went to bed, hubbie was working so he couldn’t fit. Next day, I give them to him, he puts them on and only then I saw I messed up the zipper ! Somehow I have not made a fly and it’s exposed. I have no idea what I did even. I guess it’s what you get for multi tasking.

Then the next hurdle, hubbie announced he doesn’t like slim fit pants, so he’s totally not convinced he should wear them. Sigh! I guess the silver lining of it all is that it doesn’t matter at all that I messed up the zipper if he doesn’t like this type of pants. If your man does like this type of pants, this is a great pattern. Just don’t be like Diskordia and figure that out first before you cut ;).

Nu volgt een verhaal hoe niet altijd alles loopt als gepland :D. Ik testte de nieuwe  Men’s Chino Pants van Wardrobe By Me.  Mijn man vraagt al een eeuwigheid achter lange broeken. Dus ik was zo blij dat WBM eentje had ontworpen. Ik maakte een 29, maten lopen van 27 tot 36. Ik koos jeans. Tot hiertoe alles oke toch!

Ik zette tv aan, begon Scandal te kijken en de broek te maken. Een paar uur later was ik helemaal klaar en helemaal trots dat dat zo vlot ging! Ze zagen er super uit. Ik deed een vreugdedansje, keek nog wat tv en ging slapen. Mijn man was aan het werk, dus hij kon pas de dag erna passen. De volgende ochtend gaf ik hem de broek, hij deed ze aan en pas dan zag ik dat ik iets vreselijk mis had gedaan met de rits, ik had niet echt een gulp en je zag de rits. Ik heb geen flauw idee wat ik heb gedaan daar zelfs. Multitasken is toch niet altijd een plan!

Dan de volgende hindernis, mijn man verklaarde dat zo’n aansluitende broek niks voor hem is,  hij is dan ook niet overtuigd om ze te dragen. Zucht! Nu ja het positieve hieraan is dan wel weer, dat het al niet meer uitmaakt dat de rits zo’n drama is. Als jou man of zoon dat wel een leuk type broek vind, dan is dit een top patroon, wees gewoon niet zoals Diskordia en check dat best even voor je aan het knippen slaat :).

Walker Raglan Hoodie

Another test for my husband! Loving all the men’s patterns coming out! There is a huge imbalance between the sizes of our wardrobes, so I sew all the things for the hubster ;). This is The Walker Raglan Hoodie by Sinclair Patterns. It’s a semi fitted hoodie, so not too slim fitting, yet not oversized. We both really love it.

I made this version in butter soft French Terry. I used my coverstitch to do some fun accentseams and ribknit for the cuffs and bottom band. This is a us36 in regular length. As usual there’s 3 lengths to choose from so no altering for height, jippie! Sizes run from us34 to us52.

He immediately asked me to make more, so I’m going an a hunt for fabric he likes. It’s actually very nice to sew for your husband, makes him happy and you get to buy more fabric! Everybody happy! 🙂

Nog is een test voor mijn man! Er komen de laatste tijd zoveel mannen patronen uit, helemaal top! Er is een grote ongelijkheid tussen onze warderobes, dus ik naai graag voor zijn kant van de kast:)! Dit is De Walker Raglan Hoodie door Sinclair Patterns. het is een semi aansluitende hoodie, dus niet te aansluitend, maar ook niet oversized. We houden er beide veel van.

Ik maakte deze versie in super zachte French terry. Mijn coverstitch mocht ook meespelen en die maakte mooie siernaadjes als accent. Ik gebruikte boordstof voor de mouwen af te werken en de band. Dit is maat eu46, in “regular” lengte. Zoals gewoonlijk zijn er 3 lengtes, dus je hoeft niks aan te passen voor lengte, jippie. Maten lopen van eu44 tot eu62.

Hij vroeg direct om er nog te maken, dus ik ga op zoek naar stof die hij leuk vindt. Het is zo leuk voor je man naaien, het maakt hem blij en je kan meer stof kopen! Iedereen blij! 🙂

Jessica Bodycon Knit Dress

I decided to be brave and test The Jessica Bodycon Dress by Sinclair Patterns . I had no idea how I’d look in this, I was a bit scared cause well you can’t get more slim fitting as this! I choose scuba as fabric, I didn’t want too thin fabric, cause that’ll show every little bump 😉 , so scuba was ideal.

Sizing runs from us0 to us22 and there’s 3 lengths. I made a us18 regular height. I also used the curved back piece (second time I’ve used it from Sinclair and I love that! ). There are options for a peplum, but I felt that would make me wider where I go smaller and I didn’t want to create an odd optical effect. So I went for the normal hem and chose the short sleeves. There’s more sleeve options and there’s even a cowl and many other neckline options. Basically the only bodycon dress pattern you’ll ever need to get, since all options one can think off are here.

I’m rly loving this dress, It hugs me just right! I love it dressed down with sneakers, just switch them for pumps and tada it’s dressed up! Such a versatile dress. The pattern comes with very clear directions. So it’s definitely doable for a beginner!

Ik dacht ik doe is stoer en ik test De Jessica Bodycon Jurk van Sinclair Patterns . Ik had geen idee hoe dit me zou passen. Ik was best een beetje bang, want aansluitender dan een bodycon jurk wordt het niet! Ik koos scuba als stof. Ik wilde niks te dun , want dan zie je elke bultje, dus scuba was ideaal.

Maten lopen van eu38 tot eu60 , er zijn ook 3 lengtematen. Ik maakte maat 56 en de ‘regular’ lengtemaat. Ik gebruikte ook weer het gebogen achterpand (dat is nu de 2de keer dat ik dit gebruik bij Sinclair en ik vind dat zo geweldig!) Er zijn ook opties voor een peplum, maar dat voegt wijdte toe net waar ik veel smaller word en ik wilde geen raar optisch effect. Dus ik ging voor de normale zoom en ik koos de korte mouwen. Er zijn nog meer mouwopties en neklijn opties, er is zelfs een kraag. Kortom dit is het enige bodycon jurk patroon dat je ooit moet kopen, want alle opties waar je maar aan kan denken zitten erbij.

Ik ben echt gek op deze jurk, hij sluit perfect aan! Ik vind het tof met sneakers en als je die vervangt door pumps heb je ineens een mooie outfit om op stap te gaan. Zo veelzijdig! Het patroon heeft heel goeie instructies, een beginner moet dit wel kunnen lijkt me!

Rosa Tulip Top & Dress

I’m a big fan of DIBY so I tested the Rosa Tulip Dress and Top . I so messed this project up lol. I wanted a knee-length dress. I just was going to have enough fabric. I cut and turns out I didn’t mirror the front skirt piece. No fabric left to cut another one, so I could only cut it down to top length. I’m so gutted, I like the top, but I wanted a dress boehoe.

Sizing runs from misses 00 to plus 36 at DIBY, I made a plus 18 bust, plus 20 waist. It’s very comfy cause it just has an elastic in the waist en the tie is really cute. I made elbow length sleeves (there’s many sleeve options) so I can wear it in fall, cause I felt it’s a fall fabric with the deer. There’s also a knee-length (sigh) and a maxi-length skirt.

I look horrid in these pics, but that day was like 40°C. I was really suffering! The things I do for you guys! Haha. I’m wearing my Walker shorts with it, also by DIBY. It’ll be cute on full length pants too I think. It’s not a difficult sew and the instructions are very extensive, a beginner should be fine I think. Oh and I used cotton jersey.

Ik ben een grote fan van DIBY dus ik testte De Rosa Tulip Jurk en Top . Ik ben er in geslaagd zo te knoeien met dit project. Ik wilde een knie lengte, ik had net genoeg stof. Ik knip en dan zie ik dorie, de rok vooraan niet gespiegeld! Geen stof meer om een nieuw deel te knippen, dus de enige oplossing was om het te verkorten naar top lengte. Ik vind de top leuk, maar boehoe ik wilde echt een jurk.

Maten bij DIBY lopen van dames 00 tot plus 36. Ik maakte een plus 18 buste, plus 20 taille. Het is mega comfortabel, want er zit alleen een elastiek in de taille. het lint is een leuk detail. Ik maakte elleboog lengte mouwen (er zijn nog veel meer mouw opties) zodat ik het kan dragen in de herfst. Ik vond het een herfstig stofje met de hertjes. Er is ook een knie lengte (zucht) en maxi lengte rok.

Ik zie er vreselijk uit op mijn foto’s maar die dag was het 40°! Ik zag echt af! De dingen die ik doe voor jullie! Haha. Ik heb ook mijn Walker short aan, ook van DIBY. De top is ook tof op een lange broek denk ik. Het is niet moeilijk om te maken, de instructies zijn super uitgebreid, dus een beginner kan dit. Oh en ik gebruikte katoen tricot.

Kimono Top & Dress (updated 09/18)

Sometimes, very rarely tho, I’ll actually buy a pattern. Haha , not that I lack patterns outside of testing, but The Kimono Top and Dress by Halla Patterns stole my heart from the first sneak peek I saw. I usually love everything from Halla, except the little ° that has to go on their name, I don’t even know how to type that. I forgive them this tiny thing tho 😉 .

This red with parrots one is made out of a very nice flowy corron jersey by Megan Blue Fabrics . I love the drape on this fabric and the print is really gorgeous! I did have to do the sleeve in 2 pieces instead of one for that one, so the parrots would not be upside down in the back. It’s from their new collection, you’ll see me posting more of this collection in the upcoming weeks.

I’m between size 20 and 22 for my bust at Halla, what I always do is size down to 20 , but use the cut line for a bigger bust. That always works like a charm for me. In this case I then grade the waistband to a 22 (since that is where the apple starts) and used a 22 skirt. I used my last big piece of DBP for the pink dress, so glad I used it for this, cause I find it perfection! This means tho that I’m on the prowl for ppl going from the USA to Europe with space in their suitcase, who are willing to bring some DBP along for me ;). I so love DBP, it’s beyond me that nobody is making it or even selling it here. If you do know a viable resource for me, give me a poke please!

I choose to make the dress length for both, there are many more options tho, even a cardigan with or without an obi. I’m going to have to try that too for sure! I’ve also been thinking I need to attach the skirt of this pattern to the bodice of Amelia . I think that would be pretty amazing! 🙂

Soms, heel soms, koop ik is een patroon. Haha, niet dat ik er te kort kom buiten het testen, maar De Kimono Top en Jurk van Halla Patterns stal mijn hart van de eerste sneap peek die ik zag. Ik hou van alles van Halla, behalve dan dat klein ° dat eigenlijk op hun naam hoort, waarvan ik niet eens weet hoe het te typen. Maar dat vergeef ik hen graag ;).

Deze rode met de papegaaien maakte ik uit een lichte, mooi vallende tricot van Megan Blue Fabrics . Deze stof valt echt supermooi en de print is prachtig. Ik moest dan wel de mouw uit 2 stukken maken zodat de papegaaien niet ondersteboven stonden achteraan. Deze stof is van hun nieuwe collectie, je gaat mij er de komende weken nog meer van zien gebruiken.

Ik zit tussen maat 20 en 22 voor mijn buste bij Halla, wat ik doorgaans doe is dan 20 kiezen en de kniplijn voor een grote buste gebruiken, werkt perfect voor mij. Voor deze jurk liet ik de tailleband dan uitlopen naar een 22 en gebruikte ik een 22 rok. Ik gebruikte mijn laatste grote stuk DBP vanuit de USA voor de roze, zo blij dat ik het heb gebruikt voor dit, want het past perfect bij elkaar! Dit wil wel zeggen dat ik dus op zoek ben naar mensen die van de USA naar hier reizen met wat kofferruimte om DBP voor me mee te nemen ;). Ik hou zo van DBP, ik snap echt niet dat dat hier onvindbaar blijft. Weet je toch ergens waar ik het kan vinden? Geef me dan aub een por! 🙂

Ik koos ervoor om de jurklengte te maken voor beide, er zijn echter nog veel meer opties, zelfs een cardigan met of zonder obi. Dat ga ik zeker ook is proberen! Ik heb ook al zitten denken dat ik de rok van dit patroon is een lijfje van Amelia wil zien . Dat wordt volgens mij super geweldig! 🙂
