The Cerena

So it was time for another jumpsuit! I bought this fabric with a jumpsuit in mind. So easy chosing for this one. The pattern is The Cerena by Rebecca Page . Sizing runs from XXS to 5 xl and from newborns to 12y and ofc. there’s a doll version too. I made a 2XL top and 3 XL bottoms. You can make it in woven, but I was so happy I could use my lightweight knit too that I chose that option. It’s easy to get on and off, the only thing you need to open in the knit version is the necktie and you are free lol.

Because fall is upon us here in Belgium I chose the long trousers, you could also do a shorts version or just the top (which is gorgeous on is own too!) I went for a bohemian look with this fabric, but a black or white linen is beyond pretty too. I especially love how cute it is on girls too.

The back is very open, but I don’t own a strapless bra, so I went for the creative way and put on a sportsbra cause I felt I needed to show you guys the back too. You could also wear a cute lacy bralette imo, but I’m not an owner of one of those either haha. And tbh, my hair is so long when it’s lose, it doesn’t rly matter what I wear underneath, nobody will ever see the back anyway muahahaha. It will also be great to wear into fall with a cropped cardigan over it.

You can also add pockets, which I did originally but look at that pink at pocket height, now imagine a pocket right down the middle of one of those teardrops….rly imagine it….indeed…that’s just vulgar and I’ll never look at the pink part of this fabric quite te same lol. So I scratched that idea (who designs that shape in that color??? :D)! It’s a rayon/lycra btw and I love how it flows for this pattern, I’d make sure to get something thin and flowy for this.

Het was nog is tijd voor een jumpsuit! Ik had deze stof gekocht met een jumpsuit ing edachten, dus de keuze was snel gemaakt deze keer. Het patroon is De Cerena door Rebecca Page . Maten lopen van XXS tot XL, van pasgeboren tot 12j. en er is uiteraard een versie voor poppen. Ik maakte een 2XL top en 3XL broek. je kan het ook in geweven stoffen maken, maar ik was zo blij dat ik deze lichte tricot kon gebruiken, dat ik voor deze optie koos. Het is makkelijk uit en aan te doen, je moet alleen het nek lintje los maken en hoppa je bent vrij LOL.

Omdat de herfst toch echt voor de deur staat heb ik voor de lange broek gekozen, je kan ook een korte versie maken of zelfs de top alleen (wat ook echt schattig is!). Ik ging voor een bohemian look met deze stof, maar wit of zwart linnen is ook mooier dan mooi. Het is ook zo schattig voor kleine meisjes.

De achterkant is vrij open, maar ik bezit geen strapless bh, dus ik ben dan maar voor de creatieve aanpak met de sportbh gegaan. Je hebt tegenwoordig ook die mooie bralettes met veel kant, dat zou ook prima kunnen naar mijn mening. En om eerlijk te zijn, mijn haar is zo lang, het maakt al niet uit, er ziet toch niemand de achterkant ooit muahaha. Het gaat ook nog tof zijn in de herfst met iets bolero achtigs over.

Je kan ook zakken toevoegen, wat ik oorspronkelijk had gedaan, maar kijk is goed naar dat roze ter hoogte van waar zakken zouden komen, beeld je nu in dat er eenz ak recht in het midden van zo’n roze erm…druppel…. komt ….echt probeer het….inderdaad…dat is gewoone en beetje vulgair en ik zal nooit nog hetzelfde kijken naar dat deel van de stof. Dus dat idee heb ik maar laten gaan (wie ontwerpt die vorm in die kleur??? :D)! Het is een viscose tricot, ik hou ervan hoe mooi het valt, ik zou er zeker op letten dat je een niet te dikke stof neemt die heel soepel valt.

The Arabella Skirt

The Arabella Skirt by Rebecca Page has just been released. It comes in maxi length, above knee-length, knee-length and midi. For both girls ( 0 months – 12 years) and ladies (xxs- 5xl), also the dolls get a version. 🙂  You can make it in a woven or a knit. And you can add a sash, like I did. It’s a rather full skirt, which I know scares some ladies out there, but fear not, I have used my body again to show you guys what it looks like on a curvy woman. 🙂 I made a 3XL.

When I saw the line drawing, I immediately had this fabric in mind. It’s again an african java print, with such bright pretty colors! I was very scared the yellow would look horrid on me, but I think it’s actually well pretty! My fabric is kinda stiff and makes the skirt poof out a bit, but I don’t mind that at all. It gives it some body.

Oh and before I forget…it has POCKETS!! Very important! 😀 Anyways, sewing it was easy enough, it’s basically a lot of gathering and you are done. I chose the tall waistband, cause I feel that’s more comfy. If you prefer you can use the ‘normal’ one. It is actually one of the most comfy waistbands I own, because it doesn’t have just 1 big elastic in the back, but 2 that are half the width. It makes it way less stiff than when you’d just use one big one.

I took off 1 inch of the length of the skirt, cause I’m just a tad shorter than what it’s designed for. I love how this is an ideal pattern to use a borderprint too! The patternpieces are square so you can go full-out with all the pretty borderprints you have been hoarding.  The mummy and me options are plenty again! The knee-length version would be great as a back to school skirt. I’ll definitely make another one this fall in a more appropriate color scheme for the fall, cause I love wearing it and I need one to get me through the grey months in Belgium.

De Arabella Skirt door Rebecca Page is juist uitgekomen. Je hebt een maxi versie, een versie net boven de knie, knielengte en midi. Voor zowel meisjes ( 0 maanden – 12 jaar) en vrouwen (xxs- 5xl), ook aan poppen is gedacht. 🙂 Je kan hem maken in stretch en in geweven stoffen en je kan er een lint aan toevoegen zoals ik deed. Het is nogal een volle rok en ik weet dat sommige onder jullie dat een beetje eng vinden, geen paniek, ik heb mijn lichaam weer gebruikt om jullie te laten zien hoe het eruit ziet op een rondere vrouw. 🙂 Ik maakte een 3XL.

Wanneer ik de tekening zag van deze rok, had ik direct deze stof in gedachte. Het is weer een afrikaanse java print, met prachtige heldere kleuren! Ik was wat bang dat geel me totaal niet zou staan, maar ik vind het echt mooi geworden. Mijn stof was redelijk stijf en daardoor is de rok nog wat voller, maar dat vind ik eigenlijk wel leuk. Het geeft het wat “body”.

Oh en voor ik het vergeet….het heeft zakken!! Erg belangrijk! 😀 In ieder geval, het is een makkelijk patroon, het meeste werk is op zich het rimpelen . I koos de brede tailleband, want dat vind ik comfortabeler. Je kan ook een smallere gebruiken als je dat beter vind. Het is 1 van de meest comfy taillebanden die ik bezit, want het heeft niet 1 brede elastiek, maar 2 smallere achteraan boven elkaar, wat echt een verschil maakt. Het is zo veel minder stijf dan wanneer je 1 grote zou gebruiken.

I haalde een dikke 2 cm van de lengte , omdat ik net iets kleiner ben dan waarvoor het ontworpen is. Het is ook ideaal om je paneelstoffen te gebruiken! De patroondelen zijn rechthoekig dus je kan voluit gaan met alle leuke borderprintjes die je in de voorraad hebt.  De mama en ik opties zijn weer eindeloos! De kortere lengte lijkt me ideaal voor een terug naar school rok. Ik maak er zeker nog 1 in wat donkerdere kleuren voor de herfst, want ik draag hem zo graag dat ik er eentje nodig heb ook voor de grijze maanden hier in ons landje.

The Sundown Tank

I’ve been running for a few weeks now, I figure I got to be able to run 5 miles to outrun zombies if they rise up to eat us. One never knows!! Anyways, I don’t like sleeves for running, so I’m always on the look out for cute fun tank tops I can use to run. The newly released Sundown Tank by Striped Swallow Designs ticks all the boxes. It’s cute, a tad different and it’s a great top for running, but also for any other occasion really.

It comes in 3 views, a closed back, a high twisted back and a low twisted back. I made the first 2. It comes in sizes XXS- XXXL. I made a straight up 2Xl. I love the knotted back and I think the front gives it a completly diffrent look from any other tank top out there, and hey you get to show off your cute bralettes and/or sportsbra’s. 😀

 

It’s a rather easy sew, you just got to keep your head in the game when doing the twists haha. I made them in both rayon/lycra and cotton/lycra. it def. sits a bit prettier in CL, but I love how flowy it gets in rayon. I’ve made 4 in total and i have worn em all by now haha. I love special hems and special backs, so this is ideal. It has a curved hem, which I prefer by far to a straight hem. I hate how straight hems seem to cut you in half optically.

It doesn’t take a lot of fabric so it’s ideal for the “too short for a dress or a sleeved shirt” stack. 😀  The first pic is even made from a panel :). (My personal favourite!). I’ll def. make a few more in athletic knit for running, I’ll run till sundown I’m sure! 😀

Sinds een paar weken ben ik aan het lopen, een mens moet immers toch een km of 5 kunnen lopen om zombies te ontwijken als het zo ver is en ze er staan om ons op te eten. Je weet maar nooit!! In ieder geval, ik loop liever in een top zonder mouwen, dus ik ben altijd op zoek naar leuke, schattige tank tops. Het nieuwe patroon, de Sundown tank door Striped Swallow Designs scoort op alle punten.Het is mooi, een beetje anders en ideaal om te lopen of voor wat dan ook eigenlijk.

Er zijn 3 versies, een gesloten rug, een hoog geknoopte rug en een laag geknoopte rug. Ik maakte de eerste 2. Het patroon loopt van XXS to XXXL. Ik maakte een 2XL, zonder aanpassingen. De geknoopte rug is uniek en de voorkant is ook iets anders dan andere tank tops en het is een reden om een leuke sportbeha of bralette aan te doen 😀

 

Het is zeker een beginnerspatroontje, je moet gewoon goed opletten wanneer je de rug torst haha. Ik heb er gemaakt in katoen tricot en viscose tricot, het staat net iets mooier in katoen, maar in viscose is het dan weer wat luchtiger en vloeiender. Ik heb er 4 gemaakt en ‘k heb ze al allemaal gedragen haha.Speciale ruggen en speciale zomen zijn echt mijn ding, dus dit is ideaal. Het heeft een gebogen zoom en dat prefereer ik boven een rechte die toch al gauw de indruk wekt dat hij je in 2 hakt.

Je hebt niet zoveel stof nodig, dus ‘t is ideaal voor die stoffen in je voorraad die zo net te kort zijn voor een t-shirt met mouwen of voor een jurk. 😀  De tank op de foto hier vlak boven heeft als voorkant een paneeltje. (Mijn persoonlijke favoriet!). Ik ga er zeker nog maken in een sportstofje om in te gaan lopen en dan loop ik tot zonsondergang! 😀
