Akinori Dress

Today I can show off my Akinori Dress by Wardrobe By Me ! It got revamped a bit with the full size chart. I had this pattern for ages, but never got around to making it . I used rayon? peachskin? something like that. The fabric was rly mean. I finished it and couldn’t even look at it for a few hours cause of the evil fabric. Now the memory has faded tho haha. I really like it now! It’s so so comfy!

You wanne use a nice light fabric with a lot of drape. You can also use knit if you want. But I personally prefer it in a woven and let’s be honest, not too many great woven patterns out there! So my decision was easy. I made a size 22, I didn’t grade out for my waist since there’s a ton of ease there, make sure to check the finished measurements before you decide to blend or not. Sizes run from 0 to 24.

The instructions are clear but I would not say it’s a beginners pattern. I was a bit challenged here and there which doesn’t happend often anymore. But that’s nice! Doing new things ftw! 🙂  I think it also makes a fun beach cover up. There’s 2 views, 1 with the ties and 1 without. Next week is going to be hotter then hot here in Belgium , I intend to wear this one loads! 🙂

Vandaag kan ik mijn Akinori Dress van Wardrobe By Me laten zien! Het werd geüpdate en heeft de volle matentabel van wbm nu. Ik had dit patroon al een eeuwigheid, maar het kwam er maar nooit van. Ik gebruikte viscose? peachskin? zoiets iig. De stof was echt spuug vervelend. Toen het af was heb ik er echt uren niet naar kunnen kijken door de stoute stof haha. Nu is die herinnering weg en vind ik de jurk helemaal leuk. Super comfy ook!

Je gebruikt best een dunnere stof die heel soepel valt. Je kan ook tricot gebruiken als je wil, maar laten we eerlijk zijn, er zijn niet gek veel patronen voor geweven stoffen. Mijn keuze was dus snel gemaakt. Ik maakte maat 52, ik heb niet geblend naar een andere taillemaat omdat er zoveel bewegingsruimte zit in deze jurk. Kijk even goed de afgewerkte afmetingen na voor je beslist wat voor jou het beste is. Maten lopen van 30 tot 54.

De instructies zijn duidelijk, maar ik zou het niet aanraden aan een beginner. Hier en daar vond ik het best uitdagend en dat gebeurt zelden. Maar dat is leuk! Nieuwe dingen doen is goed voor je 🙂 ! Het zou ook een tof jurkje zijn om op het strand over je badpak of bikini te dragen. Er zijn 2 versies, 1 met lint en 1 zonder. Aangezien het volgende week super warm wordt, denk ik dat ik deze vaak ga dragen! 🙂

Zoë top and drawstring dress

I tested for Sinclair Patterns again. This time we tested Zoe . This pattern already existed but got a revamp. I chose to make the dress drawstring version. There’s also a top version and you can also leave off the drawstring if you don’t like that. So there’s a lot of options :). The patterns also comes in 3 heights, I made regular. I made a size us18 bust, us20 waist. Sizing runs from us0 to us22. Oh and there’s pockets if you want em! 😀

I figured out this cotton jersey borderprints fit the pattern quite perfect. So I used them all up haha. I did create a monstrous 6 legged llama tho on the side :o. He’s a force to be reckoned with! The llama version is an earlier testversion, the drawstring got moved up a tiny bit. But I still rly liked that version, so i wanted to show you :).

Fit is great. I like this dress way way more the I expected! The pockets are huge so you can put in all your things and more haha. The instructions are very clear and it’s not a very hard pattern. I’d say beginner friendly :).

Ik testte nog is voor Sinclair Patterns . Deze keer was het de beurt aan Zoe . Dit patroon bestond al, maar kreeg een revamp. Ik koos voor de jurk met trekkoord. Er is ook een topversie en je kan het koordje ook weglaten als je wil. Er zijn dus best veel opties 🙂 . Het patroon is er in 3 lengte maten, ik maakte regular. Ik maakte maat us18 buste, us20 taille en heupen. De maten lopen van US0 tot us22. Oh en er zijn zakken als je die wil! 🙂

Ik ontdekte dat dit patroon perfect was voor deze randdessins in katoen tricot, dus ik heb de 2 die ik had opgebruikt haha. Ik creëerde wel een heel monsterlijke 6 benige lama aan de zijkant van mijn lama jurk. Ik zal maar opletten wat ik doe met die erbij :o. De lama versie is een eerdere testversie, het koordje zit nu een stukje hoger. Maar ik vind hem toch superleuk en wilde deze ook laten zien :).

De pasvorm is top. Ik vind deze jurk veel leuker dan ik op voorhand had verwacht! De zakken zijn super groot dus je krijgt er al je spullen in en nog meer haha. De instructies zijn duidelijk en het is niet een heel moeilijk patroon. Ik zou zeggen beginner vriendelijk :).

Tank Top/Tunic with a twist

You know we all have those days where nothing goes right and you kinde just want to go sit in a corner and wait till it’s over? This project totally was like that! It’s The tank top/tunic with a twist by Made by Runi. The pattern is great, the fit is great.  I made the tunic length in cotton jersey and I finished the hem, neck and armholes with FOE. I made a size 20 bust, 24 waist and hips. (Sizing runs from 4 to 28)

So now we get to the part where I suck lol. I was cutting and figured I could flip my backpanel to be frugal with my fabric since it were stripes anyway. I focused on matching up the blue stripes, cause then everything else would match too…rt???… . As you can see on the side view pic, that wasn’t the case lol. But they match up so perfectly and I have not enough left to cut another backpanel (how ironic). So I’m calling it an intended design feature!

For the top part of the back I flipped the fabric sideways, this is actually intended haha. you could also add lace or so , color block away! 😀 But wait! There’s more! I then decided I’d finish with FOE, started with neckline and armholes, found a pretty pink I liked. All good so far, then I realised I didn’t have enough to finish the hem with it and I had not cut hem allowance, so I couldn’t hem. I found some blue FOE that matched the blue stripe and used that. I guess I’ll have to be calling that a feature too? haha. I hope you enjoyed my series of unfortunate events more then I did haha.

Je weet wel hoe je soms van die dagen hebt, waar niets goed gaat en je eigenlijk gewoon in een hoekje wil gaan wachten tot het over gaat? Dit project was zo! Het is The tank top/tunic with a twist van Made by Runi. Het patroon is super, de pasvorm is perfect. Ik maakte de tunieklengte in katoen tricot and ik werkte de nek, armsgaten en zoom af met elastische bias. Ik maakte maat 50 buste, 54 taille en heupen. (maten lopen van 34 tot 58)

Nu komen we dus bij het stuk waar ik suck lol. Ik was aan het knippen en dacht ik draai het achterpand om, dan heb ik meer over, het zijn toch strepen, niet waar? Ik focuste om de blauwe lijnen te laten uitkomen, want als die uitkomen, komt alles uit toch????…zoals je kan zien op het zij aanzicht was dat dus niet het geval lol. Maar de boel sluit zo mooi aan op elkaar en ik heb geen stof genoeg voor een ander achterpand (de ironie). Dus ik noem het een designelement en klaar!

Het bovenste stuk van de achterkant heb ik een kwart gedraaid , dat was effectief de bedoeling haha! Je zou ook kant ofzo voor dat stuk kunnen gebruiken, color block naar hartenlust! Maar wacht , er is meer! Ik nam dan de beslissing om met elastische bias af te werken. Eerst de nek en de armsgaten met een mooi roze dat ik in de kast vond. Maar dan kwam de constatatie dat ik niet genoeg meer had voor de zoom, ik had ook geen extra geknipt voor een zoom, dus gewoon zomen ging niet. Ik heb dan nog blauwe bias gevonden die bij de blauwe strepen past, dus dat dan maar gebruikt, dat is dan ook maar een designelement? haha. Ik hoop dat jij meer lol hebt gehad aan mijn serie van ongelukkige voorvallen dan ikzelf haha.

Ivy Tee

It seems it’s turning into the summer of the rayon knits for me. This is The Ivy Tee by Sinclair Patterns . I used rayon knit cause it’s a rather relaxed fit and rayon just flows better then cotton. I made a size us18 bust, us20 waist and hips. Sizing runs from us0 to us22. Fit is spot on :).

The top features a fun color block detail. I chose to do the sleeves the same as the bodice, you can also do them the same as the yokes. So many possibilities! The curved hem is longer in the back then in the front. I really like that hem. I chose the short sleeves, you can also do 3/4th and long sleeves. I’m planning a winter version with long sleeves in a nice sweater knit!

The pleat in the back is a nice feature and gives your bottom some room 😉 . The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I’d say it’s totally beginner friendly! I also like how back details are now so much more useful with my shorter hair haha. So I’m all for back details now :D.

Het begint erop te lijken dat dit de zomer van de viscose tricot wordt voor mij. Dit is The Ivy Tee van Sinclair Patterns . Ik gebruikte viscose tricot omdat de pasvorm eerder los is en viscose valt gewoon mooier dan katoen. Ik maakte een us18buste, us20 taille en heupen. De maten lopen van us0 tot us22. De pasvorm is helemaal top.

De top heeft een leuk color blocking detail. Ik koos ervoor om de mouwen in dezelfde kleur als het lijfje te doen, maar je zou het ook in dezelfde kleur van de bovenkant kunnen doen. Superveel opties! De gebogen zoom is langer achteraan dan vooraan. Ik vind die zoom tof. Ik koos de korte mouwen, maar je kan ook 3/4de en lange mouwen kiezen. Ik plan nog een winterversie met lange mouwen en een sweater stofje.

De plooi achteraan is ook een leuk detail en geeft je achterwerk genoeg ruimte ;).  De instructies zijn duidelijk en makkelijk te volgen. Ik zou zeggen dat dit lukt voor een beginner. Het is nu ook zo leuk dat details achteraan effectief nuttig zijn met mijn kortere haar haha. Ik ben nu dus helemaal voor leuke achterkanten 😉 :D.

Talia Bundle

Oh my ! It has been a while since I blogged due to circumstances and life happening. (I hate when life happends 😦 ) Anyways, here I am again and I made a very fun pair. It’s the Talia Bundle by Rebecca Page . The bundle consists of a twisted top and a fun swingy dress or tunic. I chose the dress length and short sleeves on the top. Both are made out of cotton jersey.

Sizing runs from xxs to 5xl. I’m between a 2 and 3xl for my bust so I chose the 2xl bust and 3xl waist and hips. I kinde wish I made the dress in a more flowy fabric, I’d recommend something like rayon jersey. I’ll def. try that myself too. I like the fit, but I would add a bit of length to the front next time, cause the dress kinde pops higher when you wear it with the twist top., but come to think of it that might actually also be the cotton being naugthy.

I didn’t think of taking a pic without the twist top, so you can’t see how I finished the dress, but I swear I finished it with straps in FOE lol. I really like the concept of this duo tho. It’s very fun to wear and ideal for the nice weather we’re having here in Belgium atm. The instructions are clear and I’d rate it for an advanced beginner.

Oh jee ! Het is al even geleden dat ik nog een blog heb gepost, door omstandigheden en “life happening”. (Ik haat het wanneer dat gebeurt 😦 ) In ieder geval, hier ben ik weer en ik maakte een tof duo! Het is de Talia Bundel van Rebecca Page . De bundel bestaat uit een getorste top en een swing jurkje of tuniek. Ik koos de jurklengte en korte mouwen voor de top. Beide zijn gemaakt van katoen tricot.

Maten lopen van xxs tot 5xl. Ik zit voor mijn buste tussen 2 en 3xl, dus ik koos 2xl voor de buste en 3xl voor taille en heupen. Ik had de jurk beter in een iets soepele stof gemaakt, zoals bv. viscose tricot. Dat ga ik zeker nog eens proberen. Ik vind de pasvorm goed, maar ik zou bij een volgende een beetje lengte toevoegen aan de voorkant, want als je er de top overdraagt, springt de zoom een beetje naar boven. Nu dat ik dat hier uit typ, bedenk ik dat dat ook wel is aan de katoen kan liggen die stout is.

Ik heb er niet aan gedacht om een foto te nemen zonder de top, maar ik beloof echt dat ik de bandjes heb gemaakt uit elastische bias (foe) lol. Ik vind dit duo een super leuk concept. ideaal voor het lekker weertje nu. De instructies zijn duidelijk, ik zou zeggen dat dit perfect kan voor een gevorderde beginner.
