Men’s Fleece Jacket

Yay, a new men’s pattern by Wardrobe By me! I’m always yelling ‘PICK ME PICK ME’ when WBM is looking for testers for men’s patterns, so this time was no different. This is  The Men’s Fleece Jacket. I had to be a rebel and try the softshell version tho ! 🙂 There are sleeves included for a fleece version and for a softshell version, to counter the lack of stretch in softshell.

I made a size M, the pattern goes from 2xs to 3xl. You can choose between a hood or a collar. My hubbie always complains about his ears being cold, so he chose the hood. It has 2 pockets that close up with an invisible zipper and an inside pocket that closes with a zipper too. The way all the pockets are installed , gives a cool look on the outside, cause you see the stitching. It’s less noticeable on the softshell so I did some close-ups.

The instructions are clear, yet I’d not call it a beginner pattern, it is a great pattern to learn new things and overcome all the zipper fears tho! 🙂 He loves the fit and he’s been wearing it every day on our hikes and I’m all proud every time I look at him wearing it! 🙂

Yay, een nieuw mannenpatroon bij  Wardrobe By me! Ik roep altijd ‘KIES MIJ, KIES MIJ’ ,wanneer WBM testers zoekt voor hun mannenpatronen, dus deze keer was niet anders. Dit is The Men’s Fleece Jacket. Ik moest natuurlijk de rebel zijn en deze maken in een softshell versie! 🙂 Er zijn 2 verschillende mouwen, eentje voor fleece en een andere voor softshell, om het gebrek in stretch van de softshell op te vangen.

Ik maakte een M, het patroon loopt van 2xs tot 3xl. Je kan kiezen tussen een kap of een kraag. Mijn man klaagt altijd over koude oren, dus die koos de kap. Het jasje heeft 2 zakken die sluiten met een blinde rits en een binnenzak , die ook sluit met een blinde rits. Door de manier waarop je de zakken maakt, krijg je een leuk effect aan de voorzijde, want je ziet de stiksels. Je ziet het minder op de softshell van de mijne, dus ik nam een paar close-up foto’s.

De instructies zijn duidelijk, maar ik zou het toch geen beginner’s patroon noemen, het is wel het ideale patroon om je over al je ritsangsten te zetten! 🙂 Mijn man vindt het een topper en heeft het al alle dragen gedragen op onze boswandelingen en ik ben telkens stiekem trots als ik hem het zie dragen! 🙂

Love Dolman

The weather took a good turn here in Belgium and it feels like spring. Out with the sweaters and in with the cute tops! I tested this one for Petite Stitchery & Co . It’s the love Dolman . Oddly enough very flowy dolman tops are always a bit out of my comfortzone. I’m always scared I’ll end up even bigger. But to my own surprise I really really loved this! It’s so good to step out of you comfortzone once in a while!

Sizing runs from xs to 4xl. I made an xl. It was suggested by the designer to use your upper bust measurement, pretend it’s your full bust and determine size like that, since the seam is above your apex. So I did that and that was a good call, there’s plenty of room below in the gathered part for bellies. So no need to grade out either. I chose to make the short sleeve, there’s a long sleeve option too. I decided to go all out on the comfortzone thing and use the elastic hem and I like it! You can also band it.

My fabric is a polyester jersey, not sure what it is exactly haha. You want to use a flowy fabric or it’ll turn a bit boxy. Unless you like that ofc.! It’s so comfy, I will wear this a lot this spring! Would also be cute with a pencil skirt I think. There’s also a girls version!

Ik heb helemaal een lentegevoel met dit weertje, een vroege lente is helemaal top. Dus de sweaters de kast in en de leuke tops kunnen weer in roulatie :D. Ik testte deze voor Petite Stitchery & Co . Het is de love Dolman . Gek genoeg zijn grote tops als deze helemaal buiten mijn comfortzone, ik ben altijd bang dat ik er nog erm curvier uitzie ;). Maar tot mijn verbazing, vind ik deze echt super leuk. Soms is het echt is goed om uit je comfortzone te stappen!

De maten lopen van xs tot 4xl. Ik maakt een xl. De ontwerpster gaf de suggestie om je “upper bust” maat te nemen en die te gebruiken als volle buste maat en zo je maat te kiezen, omdat de naad boven je apex ligt. Dat heb ik dus gedaan en dat was een goede zet. De top is onder die naad ruim genoeg voor buikjes 😉 . Je hoeft dus ook niet te blenden naar een andere taillemaat ofzo. Ik koos voor de korte mouwen, lange kan echter ook. Nu ik dan toch buiten mijn comfortzone op reis ben, heb ik dan ook de elastiek in de zoom gekozen en ook die vind ik leuk. Je kan ook afwerken met een band.

Mijn stof is een polyester tricot, geen idee wat het exact is haha. Je wil voor deze een stofje dat soepel valt of de top wordt nogal vierkant. Tenzij je dat natuurlijk net wil! Het is zo comfy, ik ga deze de komende lente vaak dragen! Ook leuk met een potloodrokje denk ik. Oh en er is ook een versie voor meisjes!

Hacking the Primrose Panties

I decided to use 2 easy hacks on the Primrose panties by Bella Sunshine Designs . I’ll quickly explain how I did it, so you can do it too, it’s easy! 🙂

First up the one with the lace band. This is very very easy, just cut your lace band to the width of the panties. Make sure your lace is stretchy! The width of the band doesn’t matter, anything you like, can work! Align the top with the edge of your panties, I made sure my FOE would cover the scalloped edge.

Pin the edge at the bottom too and sew that on both top and bottom to your front and back (or only front, whatever you want). Be sure to use a stretchstitch for this!

From this point on you’ll just treat this as a normal front or back and continue construction as the instructions in the pattern suggest.  Easy right!

The 2nd one I did is great for scrapbusting even smaller scraps. I often have enough for 1 back but not quite enough for a front to go with it. I just drew a diagonal line on my front. I just winged placement.

Then cut that line, don’t forget you’ll need to add seam allowance where you cut your line.

Cut 1 middle front on the fold and cut 2 side fronts mirrored.

You’ll end up with that, just sew those pieces together right sides facing, press the seams and continue construction as the instructions suggest. Easy peasy again right? You can cut another shape, just always add seam allowance where you cut and get creative! 🙂

Ik dacht laten we is gek doen en ik deed 2 makkelijke hacks met de Primrose slips van Bella Sunshine Designs . Ik zal ff snel uitleggen hoe ik deze deed, zodat jij ze ook kan doen, het is echt makkelijk! 🙂

Eerst die met de kanten band. Dit is super makkelijk, knip gewoon je kanten band even breed als je voor en achterpand. Let erop dat je rekbaar kant gebruikt! Hoe breed die band is maakt niet uit, wat jij maar leuk vindt. Leg het bovenop je pand en leg het gelijk met de bovenkant, ik heb erop gelet dat de FOE de gebogen rand van het kant zou verstoppen.

Pin de rand bovenaan en onderaan vast en naai beide randen vast op je voor en achterpand. (of alleen je voorpand, wat jij maar wil! ) Gebruik hiervoor zeker een stretchsteek!

Behandel vanaf dit punt het als elk ander voor en achterpand en volg de instructies bij het patroon om je slip verder in elkaar te zetten. Makkelijk zat toch!

De 2de die ik deed is ideaal om nog kleinere resten op te gebruiken. Ik heb vaak genoeg voor een achterpand, maar dan niet voor nog een voorpand. Ik tekende een diagonale lijn op het voorpand. Ik heb de lat gewoon op het zicht gelegd.

Knip deze lijn door, vergeet niet dat je naadwaarde moet toevoegen waar je hebt geknipt.

Knip 1 “midden voorpand” op de stofvouw en 2 “zij voorpanden” gespiegeld.

Dan krijg je dit, naai deze stukken gewoon aan elkaar met de goede kanten op elkaar, strijk die naad goed en volg de instructies bij het patroon om de slip verder in elkaar te zetten. Super makkelijk weer toch! Je kan ook een andere vorm knippen, vergeet gewoon niet om naadwaarde toe te voegen waar je knipt en wees lekker creabea! 🙂

Basically Jalie Blog Tour

Welcome to my corner of the Basically Jalie Blog Tour. My idea was to make a basic comfy outfit to go on a walk in the woods. Then go to those woods and take all kinds of lovely pictures for you, there could maybe even be elves and pink elephants! Belgian weather highly disagreed and I ended up having to take these pics in front of my door hiding from rain and wind. Ah well lol.  I made The Eléonore (Jalie 3461) with the pocket add on so I have functional pockets. The sweater is the Jalie 2911. For me a good fitting pull on jeans is def. a basic, but finding a pattern that fits was a struggle up till now. So that was an easy pick and I love the shawl hood on the sweater, so that was an easy pick too haha.

The sweater was a fairly easy make. I made us 20, sizing runs from 4 to 22. I used a sateen like french terry. It’s all nice and shiny (which made it a pain to photograph haha). Fit is great, the sleeve might be a tad long for me, but in my world sleeves can only be to short, so I left em like that. I decided to close the shawl with buttons, one could just leave it open too. The sleeves and bottom are hemmed. Instructions are a bit different then I’m used to with pdfpatterns, but there’s a lot of drawings to help you along the way.

The Eléonore is a pull on jeans, the fit is the best I’ve tried so far! I’m making many more and I’m def. going to try the jeans with fly from jalie (jalie 2908 if I’m not mistaken) too. It’s comfy at my waist, comfy everywhere really, yet doesn’t slip off! It’s a win in my book! I didn’t like the uniform look of the black jeans so I got out my sandpaper and distressed it a bit as you can see on the knees. Now with doing that I managed to wrinkle the heck out of my pants and I can’t seem to get em out. Any suggestions on how to iron jeans decently?  Anyways this is a size us20, I’m just on the edge of that 20 and I think I can go down to a size us18. Sizing also runs from us4 to us22. I used the pocket add on , cause I wanted functioning pockets. Construction was well explained, yet I’d not call these a beginner pattern, maybe advanced beginner? All in all, I had never used Jalie before and They can now count me as a loyal fan! very professional, very nice!

Welkom in mijn hoekje van de Basically Jalie Blog Tour. Mijn idee was om een basic outfit te maken die ideaal is voor een boswandeling. Dan zou ik naar het bos gaan en allerlei prachtige foto’s maken, er waren misschien wel elfjes en roze olifanten! Het Belgisch weer stak daar echter een stokje voor en ik ben geëindigd net voor mijn voordeur onder het afdakje in regen en wind. Ach ja lol. Ik maakte De Eléonore (Jalie 3461) met de zakken add on, zodat ik werkende zakken had. De sweater is de jalie 2911. Voor mij is een goed zittende jeans op elastiek best wel een basic, maar een goed patroon vinden was tot hiertoe een opgave. Dus die keuze was heel snel gemaakt en ik hou erg veel van die kap met kraag, dus die keuze eigenlijk feitelijk ook :).

De sweater was best makkelijk en snel klaar. Ik maakte maat us20, de maten lopen  an us4 tot us22. Ik gebruikte french terry die glanst. Allemaal mooi, maar een drama om te fotograferen haha. De pasvorm is goed, de mouwen zijn misschien net wat lang voor mij, maar in mijn wereldbeeld kunnen mouwen alleen te kort zijn en nooit te lang, dus ik liet ze zo. Ik besloot om knopen op de kraag te naaien, zodat die hoger sluit, dat hoef je niet te doen uiteraard, je kan het gewoon open laten. De mouwen en onderkant zijn gewoon gezoomd. De instructies zijn een beetje anders dan ik gewoon ben van pdfpatronen, maar er zijn een hele hoop afbeeldingen die het wat duidelijker maken.

De Eléonore is een jeans op rekker, de pasvorm is de beste die ik al ben tegengekomen tot hiertoe! Ik maak er zeker meer en ik ga absoluut zeker de jeans met rits (jalie 2908 als ik niet mis ben) ook nog proberen. Het is comfy in mijn taille, het is eigenlijk overal comfy en toch zakt ze niet af. Een topper! Nu vond ik de uniforme zwarte kleur een beetje gek, dus ik ben aan de slag gegaan met schuurpapier, dat zie je aan de knieën enzo. Nu was ik wat te enthousiast en heb ik er hopen vouwen in gemaakt, die ik er begot niet uitgestreken krijg. Iemand een tip? Iig dit is maat us20, ik zit net in maat 20 en ik denk dat 18 ook nog goed zou passen. Maten lopen van us4 tot us22. Ik gebruikte de add on voor de functionele zak. De instructies waren duidelijk, maar ik zou het toch geen beginners patroon noemen, gevorderde beginner misschien? Dus al bij al, had ik nog nooit Jalie gebruikt en hebben ze er nu een fan bij. Heel professionele patronen, topper!

Primrose and Coraline

So this was new! I had to take a mental hurdle to take all these pics! And guess what, I like em and I can live with my butt on your screen. I hope you can too ;). Anyways, I tested the new Coraline Cami and Primrose Panties by Bella Sunshine Designs.

You can make the Coraline in lengths ranging from top in my first picture to dress length in my last picture. Under the dress is a shelfbra (which is optional and also can be made separate). It’s the most comfy nighty ever! And hey if you want to wear this outside in summer, why the heck not! 🙂 I used cl for all my makes. I love how I can dive in my humongous FOE stash for these patterns! sizing runs from 0 to 30 and an FBA piece is included if you need it, which is awesome, no fitting in your boobs yourself ;). I made a 16fba bust and 22 waist and hips. I really like the fit of the cami and I decided to break all the damn rules and use  horizontal stripes and a print! Ha! The fashion police can exit that way –> :D.

The Primrose panties come in high rise and low rise, brief and hipster. I made em all high rise and used both cuts. The skull one is hipster, the green floral one is the brief. I can’t remember what the others are since that was in early stages of testing. Sizing runs from 0 to 30 here too, I made a size 20. They fit great. These are such a good scrapbuster! And it’s fun to make matching sets, us bigger girls don’t always get that choice in RTW.  These patterns come in ladies sizes, girls sizes and doll sizes, so you can use the even tinier scraps for the girls version or even doll version!

Zo, dit was weer is wat nieuws! Ik moest toch even een mentale grens over om al deze foto’s te maken! En weet je wat? Ik vind de foto’s mooi en ik kan er keihard mee leven dat je nu mijn achterwerk op je scherm hebt, ik hoop dat jij er ook mee kan leven :). In ieder geval, ik testte de nieuwe Coraline Cami en Primrose Slips van Bella Sunshine Designs.

Je kan Coraline in verschillende lengtes maken van toplengte (de rode) tot jurklengte (de gekleurde). Onder de jurklengte zit bij mij een ingebouwde beha, deze is optioneel. Je kan die ook apart maken. Ik vind het zo’n comfy nachtkleedje en weet je wat als je er 1 wil maken en deze zomer buiten wil dragen, waarom niet! 🙂 Ik gebruikte katoen tricot voor alles. Zo leuk dat ik is in mijn verzameling FOE kon duiken voor deze patronen. Maten lopen van 0 tot 30 en een volle buste patroondeel zit erbij voor als je het nodig hebt, erg handig! Ik maakte een 16fba buste, 22 taille en heupen. Ik vond de pasvorm van de cami super en ik besloot alle regels te breken en horizontale strepen te gebruiken met dan nog een print! De modepolitie kan het pand verlaten langs hier –>. 😀

De Primrose slips komen in 2 versies op de taille, hoog en laag en komen met een hoge of lage beenuitsnijding. Ik maakte ze allemaal hoog in de taille. Die met de doodshoofden is laag uitgesneden (hipster). De groene hoog (brief). De anderen weet ik niet zo goed meer, die zijn van helemaal in het begin in het testproces. Maten lopen ook hier van 0 tot 30. Ik maakte maat 20. Ze passen super! Dit is ook zo ideaal voor resten! Het is ook tof om setjes te maken van beide patronen, plus size dames krijgen die optie vaak niet in de winkel. Deze patronen komen in dames maten, meisjes maten en poppen maten, dus je kan de nog kleinere restjes voor de meisjes versie of zelfs de poppenversie gebruiken!
