Vivianne Sweater and Cardigan

Remember I won some fabric from Droomstoffen. This is one of them :). I don’t know exactly what it is, some kind of sweater type knit. I used it to test The Vivianne by Halla Patterns . A cute sweater/ cardigan with a fun pleating detail at the front shoulder, Of which I kinde forgot to take a close up picture cause it was freezing and raining when I took these pics :D. (yup hubbie was standing under an umbrella with the camera while I was standing underneath a roof thingy, the struggle is real)

I had to remeasure myself cause the last few months have not been nice to me :p. So I made a size 22 bust, 26 waist and hips. (the sewing testing community is like the only place in fashion were designers are happy you gained weight and can test a bigger size hahaha.) Sizing runs from 00 to 30. I chose the longest length , normal waistband, long sleeve with normal cuffs, there’s many many more options to choose from tho, including a button pad in the front making it into a cardigan.

I kinde messed up the V in the V-neck a bit. I’ll need to unpick that at a point. This is completely user error and I blame binging “love after lock up” (tlc is my sewing jam 😉 ) while sewing. It’s very comfy to wear, not difficult to construct, I bet a beginner can tackle this. Funny enough, the day after I finished this I was in a clothing store (I know wuut?) and I saw this exact sweater in this exact print haha. So I’d say it’s on trend haha.

Een tijdje terug won ik een stoffenpakket bij Droomstoffen. Dit is er eentje van. Ik weet eigenlijk niet exact wat het is, 1 of ander breisel :D. Ik gebruikte het om De Vivianne van Halla Patterns te testen. Een leuke sweater/cardigan met een leuk plooidetail vooraan de schouder. Waarvan ik ben vergeten foto’s nemen, omdat het vroos en regende wanneer ik de foto’s nam :D. (man stond met de camera onder een paraplu en ik onder een afdakje, the struggle is real)

Ik moest mezelf weer opmeten, want de laatste maanden waren erm zwaar haha. Dus ik maakt uiteindelijk buste 22, taille 26. (de naai test gemeenschap is de enige plek in mode waar ontwerpers blij zijn dat je in een grotere maat belandt en je dus een grotere maat kan testen haha.) Maten lopen van 00 tot 30. Ik koos de langste lengte met de normale tailleband, lange mouwen en normale boorden aan de mouwen. Er zijn echter nog veel meer opties, inclusief een knopenpad om er een cardigan van te maken.

Ik knoeide wat met de V in de V-nek. Die zal ik nog is los moeten maken op een punt. Dit is een gebruikersfout en ik steek het op “Love after lock up” kijken terwijl ik naaide (beetje tlc verslaafd). Het is super comy om te dragen en niet gek moeilijk om te maken. Volgens mij kan een beginner dit wel! Grappig genoeg kwam ik de dag nadat ik deze maakte in een kledingwinkel (ja echt :o) en ik zag daar deze sweater in deze print, dus ‘t is iig actueel haha.

Gather Together Sweater

Last week I won some fabric at Droomstoffen ! So fun! Except my hubbie didn’t believe I won it haha. Anyways I was testing this pattern en knew I needed to use this cotton jersey for it. It turned out exactly as it was in my head, no… better even! It’s the Gather Together Sweater by Petite Stitchery & Co. I really really adore it! It’s fun and casual and comfy.

There’s 2 sleeve lengths, I chose the short sleeves. There’s also 3 lengths, I choose the middle tunic length. You can pick between a straight and curved hem in the back, you all know I chose the curved one haha. there’s also an option for a casing and elastic so it nips in at your waist. I made a size 1x, sizing runs from xs to 4x.

You can wear it knotted, not knotted, open, closed and with different fabrics it can be a summer and winter item. I really really like it. The instructions are clear and the construction isn’t difficult, I’d say a beginner can tackle it. There’s also a girl’s version, so you can be cute together :).

Vorige week won ik een stoffenpakket bij Droomstoffen ! Zo leuk! Behalve dan dat mijn man niet geloofde dat ik het niet gekocht had haha. In ieder geval, ik was op die moment dit patroon aan het testen en zag direct dat deze katoen tricot deze sweater moest worden. Het werd net zoals ik dacht in mijn hoofd, nee zelfs beter! Het is de Gather Together Sweater van Petite Stitchery & Co. Ik vind het echt heel erg leuk! Casual en heel comfy.

Er zijn 2 mouwlengtes, ik koos de kortste. Er zijn 3 zoomlengtes, hier koos ik de tuniek lengte. Je kan ook kiezen tussen een rechte of een gebogen zoom. Wie mij wat kent, weet dat ik de  gebogen zoom nam haha. Er is ook een optie voor een tunnel en elastiek zodat het een beetje breekt in je taille. Ik maakte een 1x, maten lopen van xs tot 4x.

Je kan het dragen met een knoop vooraan, zonder knoop, open, dicht en door verschillende stoffen te gebruiken kan het net zo goed een zomer als winter item zijn. Ik vind het echt super leuk. De instructie zijn duidelijk en het is niet heel moeilijk, ik zou denken dat het een beginner wel lukt. Er is ook een versie voor meisjes dus je kan samen mooi wezen :D.

Jenny Cross Front Tunic

Last up in the cross front type thingies, The Jenny Cross Front Tunic by 5oo4. A semi fitted dolman style cross front thingy :D. If you feel the cleavage is a bit too much, there’s a modesty tank top included too! I made this one out of dbp, which actually I don’t prefer for this, dbp tends to cling, so the cross over pieces cling a bit on each other.  Maybe it’s just me as a european not being used to dbp tho. 😀

A fba pattern piece is included for those who need it, which is always very nice! I made a size xl fba blended to a 2xl waist and hips. Sizing runs from xxs to 5xl. you can choose between long and short sleeves and a straight hem in the back or a curved one. I went for long sleeves and the curved hem.

The instructions are clear and it’s not too difficult. I’d say advanced beginner. The dolman isn’t too pronounced , it’s more of a dropped shoulder, I really like that. I’m  going to make another one in a different fabric for sure! 🙂

Als laatste in de kruisende voorpand toestanden, De Jenny Cross Front Tunic van 5oo4. Een redelijk aansluitende dolman kruisend voorpand ding. Als je de decoltee wat te ver vindt, bij het patroon zit een tanktop om eronder aan te doen. Dus 2 in 1 ;). Ik maakte deze uit dbp en ik moet zeggen dat ik dat niet ideaal vind. Dbp heeft de neiging wat aan elkaar te gaan hangen, dus de kruisende panden willen wat aan elkaar hangen. Misschien is het gewoon ook omdat ik als europeaan de stof niet zo gewoon ben :D.

Een fba patroondeel is inclusief voor degenen die het nodig hebben, wat altijd een pluspunt is. Ik maakte XL fba geblend naar een 2xl taille en heupen. Maten lopen van xxs tot 5xl. Je kan kiezen tussen lange en korte mouwen en een rechte of gebogen zoom achteraan. Ik koos de lange mouwen en de gebogen zoom.

De instructies zijn duidelijk en het is niet al te moeilijk. Ik zou zeggen gevorderde beginner. De dolman is ook niet overdreven, ‘t is eerder een verlaagde schouder wat ik leuk vind. Ik ga zeker nog is een andere maken in een andere stof! 🙂

Lauren Top and Dress

Not too long ago I bought some jeans, I know I bought clothes :o. I did so cause I had no idea if I can even wear jeans with my pressure urticaria. Seems I can to some degree! So I’ll be making some soon too! Anyways this means I need tops, I don’t have a whole lot of tops and this one really caught my eye with the pretty pleat details and the asymmetrical neckline, so nr. 2 of the cross over type thingies is a fact! It’s the Lauren Top (and dress) by Sinclair Patterns.

First off apologies, I took my side pictures on the wrong side, it looks different on the other side that has the pleats.  I made the top in a very lightweight cotton jersey. I made a US18 bust, US20 waist and hips. Sizing runs from US0 to US22. The fit is great. The instructions are clear, however I’d not classify it as a beginners pattern.

You can choose either top length or dress length. I went with top length obviously haha. There’s different sleevelengths and a sleeveless version. (I bet that’ll be great for summer! )I made 3/4th sleeves, It’s my thing atm, dunno why haha. I really like the fit and fun pleats on it. It would be even better in a drapier fabric! I’m a fan of this pattern!

Een tijdje terug kocht ik een paar jeansbroeken, ik weet het! Ik kocht gewoon kleren :o. Het was een experiment om te zien of ik met mijn druk urticaria uberhaupt een jeans aan kan. Nu heb ik dus uitgevist dat dit lukt tot op een bepaalde hoogte. Dus nu moet ik er toch echt zelf gaan maken. In ieder geval, dit betekent dat ik best wat tops kan gebruiken, ik had er echt niet zo zot veel. Deze trok direct mijn aandacht door de mooie plooien en de neklijn die niet symmetrisch is. Bij deze was dus nr. 2 van kruisende voorpand dingen een feit. Het is de Lauren Top (en jurk) van Sinclair Patterns.

Eerst hier even een verontschuldiging, ik heb heel dom foto’s genomen van de zijkant waar de plooien niet komen, de andere kant ziet er dus best anders uit en had vast nuttiger geweest. Ik maakte de top in een dunne katoen tricot in maat US18 buste, US20 taille en heupen. Maten lopen van US0 tot US22. De pasvorm is top (pun intended 😉 ). De instructies zijn duidelijk, maar ik zou het alsnog toch niet echt een beginners patroon noemen. 
Je kan kiezen uit toplengte of jurklengte. Ik koos (overduidelijk haha) voor top lengte. Er zijn verschillende mouwlengtes en een mouwloze versie is er ook , die lijkt me zo leuk voor de zomer. Ik koos nu de 3/4de mouw, geen idee waarom, dat is tegenwoordig mijn ding haha. Ik ben echt blij met de pasvorm en de leuke plooien. Die komen vast nog mooier uit in een stof die meer doorhangt.

Crossroads Sweater

I’ll be reviewing a few cross type items this week! First up The Crossroads Sweater by Winter Wear Designs.  The big collar is what drew me in. It’s a fun design and not overly difficult. An advanced beginner can nail this :). The fit is pretty much spot on for me. I made a xxl. Sizing runs from xxs to xxxl.

I used a rayon french terry. I love how soft it is! I chose the banded hem, there’s 4 options to pick one from tho. This is 1 of the longer lengths, the shorter lengths do look rly cute too. I think they’d be fun over a dress. It’s been a while since I made this, hence the long hair 😉 It didn’t grow back this fast! haha.

I love the fit at my back too, No wrinkles! 🙂 I feel it hugs you without being constrictive, it’s in fact very comfy! I wore this one loads since I made it. I also like that the sleeves are a tad longer, I find that very cosy when it’s cold.

De komende week gaan er een paar patroontjes met een kruisende voorkant voorbij komen hier op mijn blog. De eerste is deze Crossroads Sweater van Winter Wear Designs.   De grote kraag is wat me oorspronkelijk aantrok in dit patroon. Het is een leuk ontwerp en niet heel moeilijk. Een beginner met wat ervaring moet hier in kunnen slagen :). De pasvorm is perfect voor mij. Ik maakte maat xxl. De maten lopen van xxs tot xxxl.

Ik gebruikte een viscose french terry. Die is zo super zacht! Ik koos de zoom met de band, er zijn in totaal 4 opties waar je uit kan kiezen. Dit is 1 van de langere lengtes, de korte zien er ook tof uit! Dat is vast heel leuk ook over een jurk. Het is al even geleden dat ik deze maakte, vandaar het lange haar ;). Het groeide niet zo snel terug! haha.

Ik ben heel blij met de achterkant ook, geen plooien! 🙂 Het sluit mooi aan zonder vervelend te zijn, ‘t is heel comfy! Ik heb deze al heel wat gedragen sinds ik hem maakte. Ik vind het ook aangenaam dat de mouwen iets langer zijn, heel handig als het koud is.

AppleCore Tee

I’ve been a long time member in the Red Apple Sewing group on fb, not too long ago they started making patterns! And not just patterns, but patterns made especially for you. You give in your measurements and they make their pattern just for you. How awesome is that and they aim at apple-shaped ladies like myself! No grading, no shenanigans, just, print, cut and sew! The one I made here is The AppleCore Tee .

I have no idea what size I made, it’s the Diskordia size :D. I used dbp. My pictures rly don’t represent how well it fits! It was raining and wet polyester clings to your body like a labrador who thinks you have food.  The fit truly is perfect! It has darts and for the first time ever they were in the correct spot …. I know rt! You can finish the neckline with a facing, but I chose a band. I’m not a huge fan of facings. There’s instructions for both.

I decided to not cut the back on fold, I love a seam in the back, it allows for some shaping and way less wrinkles in your lower back. You can decide to cut in on fold tho, there are instructions for that too. It’s not a very difficult sew, you got this! 🙂 If you have a hard time fitting and you are annoyed with all the grading, blending, shortening and lengthening, Red Apple Sewing might be the solution for you! Keep your eye on them, there is loads and loads in the pipelines :).

Ik ben al een hele tijd lid van de Red Apple Sewing groep op fb, nog niet zo lang geleden begonnen ze ook patronen te maken! En niet zo maar patronen, maar patronen op jou maat gemaakt. Je geeft je maten in en het patroon wordt voor jou gemaakt. Hoe geweldig is dat en ze richten zich vooral op mensen met een appelvorm. Geen gedoe, geen geblend, gewoon printen, knippen en naaien! Degene die ik hier maakte is De AppleCore Tee .

Ik heb dus ook geen flauw idee welke maat ik hier aan heb, het is Diskordia maat :D.  Ik gebruikte dbp. Mijn foto’s laten echt niet zien hoe goed de pasvorm is! Het regende en polyester plakt dan aan je lijf zoals een labrador die denk dat je wat te eten hebt. De pasvorm is echt top! Het heeft coupenaden aan de buste en voor het eerst ooit stonden die zelfs direct goed! Je kan de neklijn afwerken met een beleg, maar ik koos een band, want ik ben zo geen belegfan. Er zijn instructies voor beide.

De achterkant heb ik niet op de stofvouw geknipt. Ik hou wel van een naad achteraan, dat geeft wat mogelijkheden voor een beetje vorm, waardoor je minder rimpels hebt op je onderrug. Je kan echter het wel aan de stofvouw leggen, in de instructies staat uitgelegd hoe dat dan moet. Het is geen heel moeilijk patroon, you got this! 🙂 Als je al een tijd gefrustreerd bent dat je niks passends gemaakt krijgt en het ff beu bent om het uit te zoeken dan is Red Apple Sewing misschien wel ideaal voor jou! Hou ze ook maar goed in de gaten, want er komt nog veel leuks aan! 🙂
